Possible MOB dress

JaceLancs · 09/02/2019 18:43

Just bought this dress as possible MOB dress
I’m 5’4”
Currently a 10 but with over a stone to lose still which would make me an 8
It fits now just but would look better if I lost a few pounds more
Background is navy
Could wear with a navy or cerise or purple jacket if I can find right colour
If navy jacket how about cerise or purple shoes?
If cerise or purple jacket could wear navy shoes
Would you match bag to shoes or jacket colour?
What style of jacket? I don’t like collar less or mandarin collar but any other suggestions welcome
Wedding is May 20 which I know is ages away but it’s the first thing I’ve seen I liked

Possible MOB dress

I think that cerise shoes would nice, especially since it will be spring; navy shoes might look a bit too 'office'.

I'm not sure about the jacket though. If navy, then maybe a cerise fascinator/hat.

I don't think it's too soon to be thinking about it: I bought my MOB outfit back in the autumn in time for May 25th Wink; still looking for shoes and headwear though.

It’s a lovely dress, but I feel it’s a little work wear as it’s so dark, for a early summer wedding.

However you could go with-

Nude/pink shoes, jacket and hat (no fascinators!)

JaceLancs · 09/02/2019 22:26

I’m definitely not wearing a fascinator and don’t suit hats
I’m favouring a cerise jacket maybe linen and shoes with a navy bag
The dress looks better on - I’m an hourglass shape and the top is fairly flattering re flabby upper arms

Is it a soft stretchy fabric? It looks like it from the pic but it's hard to tell. I think a thicker more structured fabric would be better to be honest for a wedding, especially MOB. It would look smarter and more special.

OlennasWimple · 11/02/2019 19:36

I'm not sure that it will work that well with a jacket, I'm afraid, because it's not very structured and you might have a slightly odd contrast between the drapy dress and tailored fit of the jacket

wishingforalotterywin · 11/02/2019 20:46

I would try and pick up either the cerise or the lighter colour (is it pale pink can't tell) in jacket and shoes. Think navy jacket too officey.

If structured jacket doesn't work with fabric or looks too officey try a knitted jacket eg phase eight do them

It's hard to see the neckline of the dress is it a V or a cowl?

Nice dress you'll get a lot of wear out of it - very versatile
