What will make me look less erm - rotund?

Size 14/16 and weight carried on stomach and under boobs so I’m a round shape from boobs to bum if that makes sense?

What can I wear that will hide this vast area while I work on losing it? I have lots of clothes I either don’t fit into anymore or just look like a sodding weeble in.

Corset/waist trainer? I find them a bugger to get on but then I feel comfortable when I finally do.

Averysmallcasserole · 09/02/2019 17:39

I’m reading with interest as I too carry weight like I’m pregnant

Bubastes · 09/02/2019 17:42

Whatever you do ignore that 'tip' that says wear an empire line. Nothing is more likely to highlight an apple-y middle than an empire line.

Bubastes · 09/02/2019 17:45

I think fitted without being skintight is the way to go. Tops that flare slightly at the waist so they skim over the problem area without being all billowy.

DorindaLestrange · 09/02/2019 17:45

Ha, I hear you!!

Tunic tops (preferably ones that go in a bit directly under your bust and then flare out again - but these are hard to find Sad) with jeggings.

Tea dresses, preferably below knee length so that the length balances the width.

Watching with interest for more ideas!

Bombardier25966 · 09/02/2019 17:46

Good legs? Sharon from Eastenders has that shape, take off the layer of slap and she's an attractive woman. Get some ideas from her?

I wouldn't go for a corset. They just squeeze the fat to other areas!

DorindaLestrange · 09/02/2019 17:48

Also long wide lightweight scarves to hang round your neck so that they provide a vertical line and flutter around the problem area and nobody gets a good look at it.

Lwmommy · 09/02/2019 17:54

I like swing vests like these with v necks

direct.asda.com/george/womens/tops/v-neck-swing-vest-top-black/GEM550105,default,pd.html

With a cardi for cooler days.

Also the boatneck knee length jersey dresses for Gap. I find fitted but not clingy to be best rather than going for baggy clothes.

Cerealkillers · 09/02/2019 17:59

Ha! Yes tried shape wear and I just end up with back boobs where the fats all been shoved upwards. Not sure I could stand a corset as I’m sat down at work most of the day & quite enjoy breathing.

OMG Bombardier WTAF is that Grin brilliant find!

Boden Miriam jersey tunic is good.

Phase Eight Becca dresses are often recommended (never tried one myself though).

Just bought this and it is good:

Tea dresses I love, but they seem to make me look bigger despite skimming the lumps?

Good idea with the vest, it’s a million degrees where I work in summer so they would be ideal.

These are flattering .

EvaHarknessRose · 09/02/2019 19:20

I think tops that skim and then stop at the hip work well.

LunaTheCat · 10/02/2019 08:10

Make sure you get a really good bra! A good fitting bra lengthens your torso.

BusterGonad · 10/02/2019 08:23

I find wrap tops and dresses work for me. Whatever you do don't wear baggy tunics. You will look frumpy.

BusterGonad · 10/02/2019 08:25

And yes to a good bra! When you lift the boobs up the middle area seems to look less bloated.

Cerealkillers · 10/02/2019 09:13

Wrap tops sound promising, tried tunics and yes it hid the lumps but I aged 10 years overnight!

The bra tip makes sense, I do have some very good lifting ones which separate boobs from belly.

Off to bake some healthier treats to replace doughnuts! It’s not bloody my fat distribution is all in one area Angry

Cerealkillers · 10/02/2019 09:13

*not bloody fair

The thing is if you wear something that just hangs down after your boobs you will look like the rest of your body is the same shape. Try to find stuff the shows that you have boobs and try to give the illusion of a waist. Would you say you were apple shaped? If you have shapely legs then show them off, I think tops that finish on your hips are good too. So the waist band of your jeans is covered and the zip, so all the tummy area is disguised. You need to get as much flesh showing between your neck and boobs, so your body looks longer.
Jeans that are higher rise hold you in too and offer a smoother line, better still jeggings so you don't get any lumps and bumps.

Nanna50 · 10/02/2019 10:21

I think you need to draw the eye upwards and downwards. I have a manager at work with this shape and she wears a lot of wrap dresses with mid to high heels.

A good bra that is the right size lifts your boobs up meaning your eye is drawn to the V on the wrap dress and bare neck. She has good legs and wears heels to make them look longer.

Wrap dresses often have a waist detail which gives an illusion of a waist.

BusterGonad · 10/02/2019 10:59

100% agree Nanna

Cerealkillers · 10/02/2019 12:23

Having googled I would say yes I’m an apple shape, will definitely look at wrap dresses/tops. I have some but they’re too tight at the moment. The boob/bra situation is under control which is one advantage at least.

Legs are quite shapely though the thighs are starting to fill out too so will really be concentrating on the weight loss!

BusterGonad · 10/02/2019 13:31

Get those legs out, get some skin out around your neck line and rock your best bits. Get some nice jewelry too.

Cerealkillers · 10/02/2019 14:47

With that in mind what can I do to improve a wrinkly chest area? Boobs ok but sun beds in the 90’s have left me crepey on upper chest area.
