DH and I are going to Brussels, Bruges, Amsterdam and Paris for Easter and we'll be walking and walking. I want to look as good as I possibly can, I have recently lost weight and recovered from a horrible infection that made some of my hair fall out and gave me awful skin. I am slowly but surely getting there and I want to look my best, for myself and for DH who's been incredible. I am quite short, 5.1", size 10, all outfits look better on me with a bit of height, so I thought perhaps something like this?

I will be taking a capsule wardrobe of black skinnies, black, white and charcoal tops and the off scarf here and there.

I feel I'd like to get both the Aldo in black and the Steve Maddens in grey. Unfortunately the Steve Madden ones I cannot find in size 6 anywhere.

Everything5Pounds have quite a lot of wedge/platform trainers/hi-tops.

I like these www.everything5pounds.com/en/PVC-Wedged-Lace-Up-Shoes/p/624846-237233-273

Had some great stuff from E5P and some things that went straight to charity but often worth a punt!

Ladies I want to look good, not just comfortable. Good and comfortable. I need the height!!

Sorry, but you will be compromising comfort if you insist on a heel. Personally if I was walking miles (more than a couple), I'd prefer a pair of flat trainers. I also think a pair of Stans look more stylish than the wedge ones. Your husband knows how tall you are and nobody else will be looking at you.

Seriously, if you are doing a lot of touristy stuff and doing a lot of walking comfort is way more important than anything else. Other people won't be looking at your feet. I bought some Sketchers Go Walk trainers for our trip to Rome and it was like walking on cushions. Most people I saw in Rome were also tourists, and all were wearing shoes for comfortable walking - many of them being Sketchers.

Will you really manage with heels with that amount of walking?

And there is nothing wrong with being 5'1". A lot of the best things come in small packages.

I would go with an ankle boot with a small heel. I personally find flat shoes uncomfortable for walking long distances, they kill my back and I need a slight heel for comfort.

I don’t mean to be rude but if you want to look good a heeled trainer is not the way to go, they are quite a few years out of date now. It’s either a crisp simple trainer like a Stan Smith, although I do wear these for me they take a bit of breaking in before they are comfortable or an ankle boot if you want to look stylish and be comfortable IMO.

Also whatever you choose make sure you wear them a lot before going as the most comfortable shoes are ones that have been broken in, there’s nothing worse than being on holiday and putting on a brand new pair of shoes to have them destroy your feet.

I’ve checked - my first pair of geox were stardust - they were so comfortable - walked miles in them and they looked good (loads of compliments) - the respira wedge are good too though I did prefer the stardust!

I am small - work in fashion and spend a lot of time in European cities. Believe me - these posters are right, get a flat pair of trainers that are bang on trend and comfy - you will look stylish I promise you. And if you are worried ( I always consider this) about looking short in pics, don't take them stood up all the time, take selfies, be creative! After all - these will be a record of your memories! I get that you may feel more confident, but look at it that you are going there to enjoy the sights - and believe me, no one gives any one else a second look (I can walk through Paris with gorgeous models on their days off and even they don't often get a second glance!!) Visitors are there to see the sights!! Be confident in you and your size xx
