Haircare for 10 yr old boy

Looking for some advice on hair products for DS. He's 10 and has a double crown. His hair is an odd mix of flyaway and wavy. School are very strict on hairstyles, length and obvious products but tbh he needs something to stop his hair sticking out at random angles.
After his last haircut, his hair was nice for about a week and then it started to take on a life of its own. It's probably about the same length as this pic.

Just get a small pot of hard wax, rub some on your hands and "claw" it though. Look at TIGI BED HEAD Hard To Get Paste. This was my son's fav way for a while - but it did mean I did it for him.

Ask for a fade up the sides and back to get rid of 80% of the problem and tell them he likes it long on the fringe so there's a decent flop. (I use my hairdresser for my 11 and 9 even though it's more dear... I can't cope with brusque barbers).

Then keep a spray bottle of water for taming as they walk out the door. Spray of water and a hard smoothing better than products.

Thanks! I'll try both of those on different days. We have school holidays now so I'm determined by the end of next week, we'll have worked out a way to tame it!

Good luck! My son is nearly 12, was born with about 4 crowns and has inherited my hair, which I inherited from my mum. His is a lot worse, poor kid. It's coarse and wiry and grows out rather than down. Gel, was, paste etc does nothing. It's so thick you can barely get to his scalp. In someways, I'm.glad he's a boy and not a girl as you can literally do nothing with it. He just has to have it short, bit longer on top. #angrybrush
