Best way to store cashmere?

I've treated myself to some cashmere in the sales, but don't want moths getting at it. A friend suggested keeping them in plastic ziplock bags, but won't that make them smell of plastic?

You're not meant to store in plastic, the air needs to circulate or you can get mould. I used to store mine in those pillowcases that are meant to be mite-proof and now I have them in a cupboard laced with anti-moth sachets and those sticky pheromone strips. So far so good. I write the date on the back of the sachets and change them every so often.

A couple of times a year I get everything out and hoover the cupboard, give everything a shake and an airing (inside-out in the sunshine if possible) and wash anything that looks or smells like it needs it. Moths need dark, still places to breed, so don't provide those conditions. And they love a little food spill so make sure garments are clean when you store them.

I store mine in cotton bags with lavender sachets in an old wooden chest. Never had a problem.
