What would you wear to a drag show?

I feel like a bit of glamour is needed so as to not look horrendously dowdy next to the queens. But surely it's a casual event so nothing too dressy? Please help!

What's the venue?

Think that will probably be the decider.

starzig · 06/02/2019 21:19

Fishnets, leather hot pants, big boots, casual t.shirt, natural hair, bold mascara and lipstick. Sorta pop rock chick look.

StuckInTheMiddleWithJude · 06/02/2019 21:27

Unless you're comfortable being dragged up on the stage I'd suggest nothing to outlandish....

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 07/02/2019 09:53

It's a big arena event, worldwide drag stars.

I've been to one, most people just wearing smart casual. I wore jeans and a cami top, didn't feel out of place or underdressed.

Biancadelriosback · 07/02/2019 12:55

When I've been I tend to wear a nice top and jeans with either massive heels or trainers depending on which queen's im seeing. Big hair though. Always big hair

HappyEverIftar · 07/02/2019 16:16

Ooh I want to go!

Sorry no advice..

honeylane · 07/02/2019 19:08

I would wear all black with a couple of coloured statement accessories

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/02/2019 19:10

Honey - I was about to say that. Go all chic in black.

LoniceraJaponica · 07/02/2019 21:11

DD says that people don't really dress up for them.

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 09/02/2019 08:24

Thank you. Yes, I was thinking of a wide leg black jumpsuit. I think rather than heels I'll go for gold sequin superga trainers and maybe a navy and gold bomber jacket that I have?

Funnily enough I'm here looking for similar advice... off to see Adore Delano in a few months and hoping not to stick out like a sore thumb ahaha.

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 10/02/2019 01:54

@pinkandsparklytoo yay I love adore! She'll be at the show I'm going too as well!

Is it werq the world? I went last year and wore black skinny jeans, a black cami and a blue silk jacquard kimono and studded shoe boots I wear with everything and had good hair and makeup.

Some people were very dressed up, others not at all.

I think a simple outfit with a statement jacket/kimono/top is the right way to go.

Also have any amazing time!!!

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 10/02/2019 08:29

Yes it is ☺️ great, that sounds very close to what I was thinking of going with. This is the jacket I was thinking of wearing. With either a black jumpsuit or a fairly plain navy maxi dress and my sequin trainers (it's quite a long journey so I'd rather avoid heels).

Was it amazing when you went?

LOVE that jacket, like seriously LOVE.

Personally I'd wear it with jeans (but that's because I live in jeans) is go for a plain shoe too, land if you don't want heels I'd say black brogues or boots but we all have our own style!

It was absolutely amazing it was last May my friend bought us VIP tickets for my 30th.

fermezzlabouche · 10/02/2019 13:10

Or with jeans and white trainers for an effortlessly cool vibe with red lipstick!

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 10/02/2019 18:27

I really like the idea of skinnies, box white trainers and maybe a cute backpack... I was a bit worried that the bomber with anything other than skinnies might look all sort of bulky. I'll have to try on a few things when I get a few minutes to myself! Thanks for the ideas!

I'm so excited and it'll be my first proper night out since having a baby so I'm really excited to get dressed in something where my main priority is not whether or not I can get my boobs out easily.

It was my first night out after having a baby last year too, you'll have the best time it was amazing. I'm definitely feeling the white trainers, skinny jeans and the fab jacket vibe.

bringincrazyback · 10/02/2019 22:45

Personally I'd take it as an opportunity to go large on the makeup and really glam it up, but then I'm always itching for opportunities to do that. Grin Jacket looks fab. Hope you have a great time!
