Braids that are quick but very tidy

I'm looking for braided hairstyles that are easy to do and keep hair tidily off the face but aren't tight. If that makes sense.

I'm rubbish at braiding, but want to learn. The problem is that I have a condition that makes my joints tire very easily so even doing a French braid is too much. I can't hold my arms above my shoulders for that long. And just putting my hair into a ponytail or bun gives me headaches. My hair is shoulder length and growing out of a layered cut, which means that a standard plait has bits falling out all over the place.

Any ideas?

Also also: I do NOT suit short hair, so getting it cut isn't an option.

I braid the front of my hair - start at the parting and just go along the hairline in a french braid to just behind my ear, then do one the other way. I have very limited use of one arm, and lean that elbow on a surface to support it which helps

Thanks CMOT, that seems like a workable option.

I have some of those tiny butterfly clips and clip it back. Sometimes with three, sometimes with five.
