Mid rise black skinny jeans recommendations please

My beloved Gap black mid rise skinny jeans have a hole worn in the inner thigh I wear them so much so I need a replacement pair! Gap have obviously changed how they manufacture the jeans as the ones in store feel completely different. Any recommendations for an alternative? I'm a slim pear shape so can't wear high rise as my waist is much smaller in proportion to my hips so the waist sits out and looks bulky under tops. I think I want stretch in the jeans but not too much as the knees might go baggy. Please help! I'm going shopping tomorrow and don't know where to start. Thanks!

Hi,

I think the Paige Margot are amazing. Look good and insanely comfortable. They are expensive (I didn't and couldn't pay full price), so if you can find on sale, discount or Ebay, Vestiaire etc, they are well worth it. They were on sale in JL recently but I think they have all sold out.

Good luck, the right pair of jeans are tough to find!

They are probably nowhere near as nice as the Paige ones - and I almost hesitate to recommend them given the company’s CEO - but for a cheaper option I love my Topshop Sidney jeans. They are stuff with just a bit of stretch. No baggy knees a year on

Thanks for replying.
The Paige ones look absolutely gorgeous but really high waisted. I love high waisted jeans if I'm tucking a top in but I'm looking for mid rise jeans so I can wear tops over them without the waist looking bulky. I'll check out the Topshop ones tomorrow. Thanks

M and s mid rise super skinnies are surprisingly good.

GypsyRoseTea · 05/02/2019 22:06

River island molly or oasis lily

PenCreed · 05/02/2019 22:42

Uniqlo and Next are both ok, and fairly cheap as well!

Tinkhasflown · 05/02/2019 22:45

I second River Island Molly jeans.

Wellhellothere101 · 05/02/2019 22:49

I might give M&S another try. I used to wear skinnies from there but the last few pairs I bought had squinty seams! Haven't tried River island so I'll go there tomorrow roo. Thanks

I like Levi 711 jeans, mid rise and skinny

CatnissEverdene · 05/02/2019 22:55

M & S. One of the few things they still get right, sadly. I've got about 10 pairs and my DDs wear them now too.

Wellhellothere101 · 06/02/2019 07:46

Oh Levis! Haven't tried them for years. There's a huge Levi shop in Glasgow so I'll go in there for a look too. Thanks everyone.

I am a slim pear and I have had some success with Oasis jeans recently. Oh the trials of jeans shopping as a pear, I feel your pain!!

totallyliterally · 06/02/2019 08:18

Got really great ones in Sainsbury's. Mid waist. Nice and thick and stretch but don't bag.

tierraJ · 07/02/2019 17:18

I like Dorothy Perkins Darcy black skinnies

shecamefromgreece · 07/02/2019 17:22

Another vote for m and s super skinny's.

shecamefromgreece · 07/02/2019 17:22

Skinnies.

sleepwhenidie · 07/02/2019 17:34

Current/Elliot stiletto - again, expensive full price but great.

NecessaryOnABicycle · 07/02/2019 17:35

Have had very good luck with ASOS Ridley skinnies and I'm the same shape as you. They're called high rise but fit me really well!

sleepwhenidie · 07/02/2019 17:35

thinking about it, may also be a bit high waisted for what you want though...

colouringinpro · 07/02/2019 17:37

Dorothy Perkins Eden jeggings - brilliant fit and reasonable quality given cheap price!

Whatsallthisaboutthen · 07/02/2019 17:48

M&S jeggings are amazingly good and only £15. I don’t think I’ll ever wear any other types of jeans now.

Janeysmum · 08/02/2019 16:46

Loved the GAP ones! I'm so sad to hear they changed the style :( I have three pairs and honestly better than the £250 pair I bought from J Brand despite costing me 30 quid

Wellhellothere101 · 09/02/2019 11:28

Sorry for not replying everyone-was logged out of the app due to the data breach I think and I've just logged back in now.
Thanks for all the ideas. I loved the Levis but the super skinny ones 710 I think. However they were £85 and although I live in jeans I just couldn't justify it when they are so similar to the fit of gap skinnies. Top shop-nice but way too short. Even the long leg ones flap round my ankles! In the end I went back to gap and tried on the black skinnies again and they were perfect! I think I just received a dodgy pair when I ordered them on line. I got them with 40% off plus 5% off when I showed them the app so they were about £28. Bargain! On balance I loved the Levis more so I'll maybe get these next time.

Have you tried the gap curvy true skinny? I have a 13 inch difference between my hips and waist and almost all skinny jeans gape at the back of my waist. GAP true skinny do too, but they have a Curvy true skinny cut which is cut with much more hip width!and these are an amazing fit! Not too thin like jeggins and I find they hold you in a bit! Have washed really well and I've had my original pair a year (I now have 5 pairs!)

I find I can take a smaller size to normal gap jeans too. I always wait till they have a code and have never paid full price for them. I bought a set just let week at 40%off in store

Wellhellothere101 · 09/02/2019 17:38

I did try the curvy true skinny jeans on in gap Vaz and I’m sure I liked them but the store only had regular length in stock which are way too short. I don’t think I’ve got particularly long legs but I’m finding I need long length trousers in most shops now. Thanks for the tip-I think there’s 40% off gap denim just now so I might order a pair of these too to test them out.
