Do you rate Tiffany pendants for an 18th?

Or won’t my niece have a clue? I’m just looking as she has just got back from NYC and won’t stop talking about it. I thought those return to Tiffany pendants look quite sweet and I know a few of the young ones st work have them. Are they worth it if everywhere now?

Depends on the 18yo. My god daughter loved hers, my oldest thinks they're common and wouldn't have worn it. Likewise pandora.

I think they're pretty, reasonably classic and something you can wear at any age personally but I'm an old hummer!

trendingorange · 02/02/2019 10:07

If you know she would love it I think the markup is worth it as it's what she wants.

TSSDNCOP · 02/02/2019 12:14

I bought the Tiffany initials for my nieces. They’re Elsa Perretti and I have one myself too.

Juststopit · 02/02/2019 12:17

My daughter got a horseshoe one for her 18th and hated it. I was surprised but she’s never going to wear it.

There is a lot of meaning behind it. She was very premature and her mum aimlessly walked into Tiffany and bought her a bracelet as she didn’t know what to do with herself. And her name is that stamp and, I want her to return to nyc with me!

I think something from Tiffany's is ideal for that age group. Especially one who's infatuated with New York. I like the sentiment behind it too. Smile

anxiousbundle · 02/02/2019 13:51

I'm 20 and brands like Tiffany and Pandora are considered common or tacky now over being elegant/classic. Though I would 100% prefer Tiffany over pandora for reference.

justasking111 · 02/02/2019 13:53

I think Tiffany and Pandora are over priced, but the girls love Tiffany so that is what they get.

HelloDarlin · 02/02/2019 13:54

Just the thrill of getting something that you wouldn’t buy for yourself, is a good gift goal. If she loves NYC, then even opening the Tiffany box would be lovely!

justasking111 · 02/02/2019 14:07

There is something about that turquoise box lol. that girls love. One day they will be equally as excited by the My First Years turquoise box. Sneaky colour is turquoise.

Fazackerley · 02/02/2019 14:10

I remember posting something similar on here and Tiffany getting an absolute roasting. I bought her the palma Picasso heart in the end and she loves it and never takes it off.

Racecardriver · 02/02/2019 14:12

Tiffany’s has become quite naff. Especially the low end stuff. What is her taste like generally?

Fazackerley · 02/02/2019 14:15

Yes I had lots of 'Tiffany is naff' comments. I was genuinely worried she'd think it was awful. She loved it and even dd2 (16 and style supremo extraordinaire) approved.

I wouldn't buy the normal heart as its been copied so much, but the paloma Picasso stuff is lovely.

Scandaloso · 02/02/2019 14:18

Tiffany certainly isn't as exclusive as it once was but plenty of people still love the brand. And that's okay!

LizzieSiddal · 02/02/2019 14:20

Some of Tiffany stuff is naff, but other stuff is beautiful. If you know your niece likes the necklace then I’d buy it without a second thought.

EdWinchester · 02/02/2019 14:21

My god daughters loved Tiffany when they were a bit younger. Now they're 18 and 20, they wouldn't be seen dead wearing it.

EachandEveryone · 02/02/2019 14:47

I won’t bother then

OP posts:
viques · 02/02/2019 14:57

i won't bother then why not? you know she likes it, why listen to strangers on the internet who don't know her or her tastes? I love the Elsa Peretti cuff, and one was bought for me for a significant birthday, unfortunately it didn't fit my fat little wrist , so it was changed for a wave bracelet, I love it, wear it loads, OK price wise a bit more than a pendant, but the point is if you love some thing you will wear it, and yes, I still have the box!

EachandEveryone · 02/02/2019 15:05

Well we are simple folk and I can’t see her spitting her dummy out at getting a Tiffany box especially when her mum gives her the bracelet she bought her when she was born —when Tiffany wasn’t naff—

OP posts:
viques · 02/02/2019 15:05

Aegean not wave, knew there was some sea connection.....

Loopytiles · 02/02/2019 15:07

I think that particular item looks tacky.

Liking NYC doesn’t necessarily mean she likes Tiffany.

I don’t quite understand your post about DN being premature, her mother buying her a bracelet (like the item you’re thinking of buying?) - are you saying that her name is Rose?

Loopytiles · 02/02/2019 15:09

So her mum bought a bracelet from Tiffany to save to give to her DD years later when her DD grew up?

LostInShoebiz · 02/02/2019 15:20

Some Tiffany products are very prevalent and are now perceived by some as “common”. However, the vast majority of their things are utterly beautiful, timeless and would go down well with anyone. And if someone gave me a Tiffany gift I’d appreciate the sentiment very much whether it was my style or not. Could you have a day out where she chooses something herself from Tiffany?

HouseyMcHouseFace · 02/02/2019 15:23

The meaning behind it for you is lovely and would be enough of a reason to buy it. It is bloody awful and tacky to look at though. If a dear aunt got that for me I would treasure it but never wear it. If you know she actually likes the look of it though then of course get it.

Sillybilly1234 · 02/02/2019 15:24

We bought the twin hearts for our DD. She never takes it off.
