Best high street beauty counter/concession 'make over'?

Any recommendations on which brands are best? I'm pretty clueless - have been doing same 'routine' since I was a teenager and definitely need some advice on the basics (matching foundation) and to try something a little new. I'm late 30s - never going to be into heavy heavy make up - any suggestions for a brand that would likely help with a done but subtle-ish look, not TOO expensive and not too pushy on the sales front if I'm only keen on one product etc - appreciate this could change depending on individuals working there but any general thoughts?

Also i'm just presuming I can go up and ask them to put make up on me? do I book? argh, realise I am so clueless! help!

Bobbi Brown- def No 1 on my list.

Nars

Clinique

Nars don't give samples (bit mean) whereas BB and Clinique will give you samples of foundation.

Estee Lauder is worth a go but their sales asst look too caked with make up for my liking though their products are quality.

Bobbi brown for sure

Bobbi Brown will let you try one product without booking- eg eyes, lips, foundation- but if you need a full make over you might need to book- best to ask at counter.

(Book if you’re going at the weekend or if you won’t be able to come back in an hr if necessary)

Clinique is good, as is Bobbi Brown. Clinique do the best freebies of the two.

Mac might be too dramatic if you're after a more natural look.

Charlotte tilbury is great. Half way through you are terrified but by the end you look great and it lasts.

Bobbi Brown without a doubt
