Bikini wax

I'm getting fed up with shaving, it grows back within a day, it's itchy and prickly and sometimes I get a rash! Blush
But I really like having no hair in that area (not bald, I prefer a Brazilian or a triangle. Tmi??)
Anyway I'm thinking of getting a wax.
I've never had one before and have no idea how they go about it! Do you have to be fully nude from the waist down, legs akimbo or can you keep your underwear on? I've heard that before, that you can keep them on but just pull them side to side? Blush
How much does it hurt? If you're a regaular waxer would you say it was worth it?

Yes, you can keep your pants on and just pull them to one side for the underneath bit. I'm a regular waxer, and yes, it hurts. Worth it though. I find with Brazilians though, using hard wax without strips is better than soft wax and strips, it's just more accurate and quicker to remove. It's so much better than shaving!

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 29/01/2019 19:36

I have a Brazilian every 4/5 weeks and you definitely need pants off for that. You just put your feet together as if you are having a smear and let your knees drop, then put your hands under your knees to lift your legs right up so she can do your bum. You need to leave your modesty at the door!

I wax my top lip and eyebrows myself so have a rough idea what it will feel like but I imagine it'll be over quickly??
I don't mind having to shave my legs or underarms because I don't get a rash or itch with those, but even after all these years my bikini area still gets irritated.
I'm gonna give it a try!

You need to find somewhere that offers lycon waxing. It's a hot wax that's oil based so when it comes off it only takes the hair and not the skin. It's a tiny bit more expensive but so worth it as the pain is no worse than taking a plaster off. No need to remove underwear unless youre having a hollywood. Some beauty salons will provide disposable knickers as well.

Dafspunk · 29/01/2019 19:42

I highly recommend sugaring - same process but different product used. I don’t find it nearly as painful as waxing.

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 29/01/2019 19:42

Lycon wax is fab as PP said. My appointment normally takes about 20 mins.

PurpleWithRed · 29/01/2019 19:43

You want hot wax in that area, and yes, you do need to leave your modesty at home. But waxing is soooooooo much better than shaving. I’m addicted.

TheFormidableMrsC · 29/01/2019 19:44

I have a wax every three weeks, little strip left in the middle. I wear my smallest thong and pull it to one side. I no longer find it painful except when my period is due. Fortunately, I know my waxing lady really well so don't find it embarrassing or anything else! Go for it.

QforCucumber · 29/01/2019 19:45

I had my first one 2 weeks ago since before ds (who is almost 3) I'll never go back to shaving. Over and done in 20 mind but yes get somewhere which uses lycon and not warm strip wax

pinkhorse · 29/01/2019 19:50

I get waxed regularly and I think it hurts! It's definitely worth it though.

Iownabigvase · 29/01/2019 20:05

Thanks everyone!
One more question, how long does the regrowth have to be before you can get waxed again?

Lycon or Perron Rigot for sure- it's worth the extra money. Find a beautician who is fast, ruthless, and keeps talking 😑

anniehm · 29/01/2019 20:19

It hurts more than legs but no itching when it grows back - lasts around 6 weeks. Not for the shy though

Polkapjs · 29/01/2019 20:33

It’s very embarrassing but I’m used to going now. Go every 4 weeks and love being able to swim without worrying about any stragglers

Unbelievable18 · 29/01/2019 20:36

What wax is best to use at home if it's a DIY job?

QforCucumber · 29/01/2019 20:46

Mine after shaving was about 5mm. Im booked back in for exactly 5 weeks after the initial appt.

QforCucumber · 29/01/2019 20:47

Where in the country are you? If someone is local they may be able to recommend a place
