How to make foundation darker

I was at an outlet place today and there was a shop selling clarins foundation for £8, I did a search on findation and they recommended shade 109 however they only had 108 (which I had tested on my hand as I already had foundation on) and it was a great match.
So in the event that is is too light, what can I use to darken it up?

A darker foundation mixed in with it.
I do this but the other way too dark to lighter. In the winter I am obviously paler than summertime but find it hard to get a shade that does suit so I use my summer one and a cheap lighter one and mix it in a clean empty pot I got in Superdrug until I get the right shade.

The body shop do darkening drops that you can mix into foundation. A little goes a long way, I use it for summer when I have a tan or if I'm wearing fake tan

The body shop drops are great. I have the lightening and darkening drops.

Thank you, x

I'd forgot about the Bodyshop drops, and Primark do them as well??
