I have visited this salon for a year. Last time I had my roots tinted, the stylist offered to give me highlights (I didn’t ask, he just said ‘this would look nice’). They looked awful and nothing like the photo he showed, the photo was of a expert balayage but he gave me basic, thin stripey highlights that began at my roots - it genuinely looked awful and made my hair look ginger.
Basically he did redid the root tint to cover the highlights and didn’t charge me extra. However I was in the salon for hours and it was quite embarrassing, his colleagues were telling me how nice it looked (it didn’t) and other customers were staring and getting involved. The stylist kept repeating how he has never had to cover his work like this before. I was really polite and apologetic throughout.
I need my roots doing again however I feel embarrassed to go back there and also I don’t think his skills are great after the debacle. However not many salons offer the high-lift root product he uses so I don’t really have an alternative
