Talk to me about LVL lashes

superstar63 · 28/01/2019 15:00

I would like to know more:

Is it uncomfortable/painful?

How do they do it exactly?

Do they get tinted at the same time?

How long do they last?

What is the rough cost in North West?

Thanks in advance

@superstar great idea to get massage & facial then too. It’s lovely to have a wee pamper time.

DustyMcDustbuster · 31/01/2019 16:40

Ughhhhhhh. Salon just phoned. Beautician has chest infection, so had to reschedule for next week. Ah well! Lol.

ChiaraMontague · 31/01/2019 18:27

Dusty, thank you for explaining about the different curls.
I've had mine done twice at the same place, the first time was fantastic with just the right amount of lift. The second time was awful, they curled back way too far (I was unpleasantly reminded of doll eyelashes) and they kept touching/ irritating the skin above my eyelids which felt really irritating. She must have used a tighter curl the second time!

Stinkytoe · 31/01/2019 18:31

I had mine done the week before Christmas and I don’t like it. It’s made my lashes look really matted and Criss-cross over each other.

Excuse my lack of make-up and general tired demeanour.... hopefully the picture demonstrates it better.

I think the woman who did mine was a bit crap because one eye is much more dramatic than the other.

Mine were shit- I had a patch test but my eyes burnt and were sore for ages
My lashes were over curled and just looked burnt and frizzy - then they all fell out

Alienspaceship · 31/01/2019 18:53

What is the difference between LV and an old fashioned eyelash perm?

EdWinchester · 31/01/2019 18:59

I was pretty disappointed - it barely made a difference.

But I have long, dark lashes that curl up - so maybe not the best candidate. My lash person was all, 'ooh, they look amaaazing!' Then I looked in the mirror and though 'meh'.

xxlucybxx · 02/02/2019 22:01

Here's my before and after!

I love it but only get it done every 6 months due to cost :( I find it uncomfortable and a long process but worth it in the end.

I had it done once and was pleased initially with the result . However after 3 weeks the lashes on one eye started to cross over and look ffrazzled . I plucked the worst ones out in the end . I have since read other reports saying you need to comb them and apply a serum but I wasn’t given any aftercare advice .

Kikipost · 03/02/2019 06:20

I have very long lashes

Worth doing?

Stinkytoe · 03/02/2019 08:54

No, they’ll drive you mad tickling you below your eyebrows

LilQuim · 03/02/2019 12:08

@xxlucybxx they look fabulous! My appointment had to be shifted to next week as lady ill. I can't wait!!

trickyex · 03/02/2019 12:29

I thought it sounded great but now you cant tell, they were only done 2 weeks ago.
I might have them permed and tinted again, much cheaper and same result IMO.

fashiondevotee · 03/02/2019 18:55

I have had both LVL and lash extensions done.

Personally, I prefer lash extensions. It looks more fresh and natural to me, and lasts longer (about a month).

The LVL was nice, but the perm dropped very fast both times I had it done, and it was barely noticeable after 2 weeks.

LilQuim · 03/02/2019 21:10

I had extensions but had a reaction to the glue & pulled them (& most of my own eyelashes) out.

Chasingdandelions · 12/02/2019 00:17

I do this for a living. Results differ person to person. If lashes are clumped or crossed they've not been applied to the pad properly. And the lotion used should never touch the end of the lashes so if they're frazzled on the ends it's also being applied incorrectly. It's a popular choice for many who don't like the more dramatic look of eye extentions. Go with someone reputable with experience. It can be uncomfortable at first as we have to tape your bottom lashes down, it really depends on the person. I've never had anyone say it's painful though. Hope this helps 🙂

I have made an appointment for Friday so will update afterwards.

Thanks for all the advice, I will ask about how to look after them after the lift.

Update!

I had them done on Friday and although it was a little bit "stingy" it was not too bad and not as uncomfrtable as I thought it may be.

They look really good and she gave me a mascara brush to use over the next few days and told me not to get them wet for 48 hours . Even my little 4 year old grandaughter asked if I had lashes on lol.

Hopefully they will last a few weeks and I think I would have them done again if they do. They look like they are really long and with mascara on, which I have not used yet.

Do you have a pic superstar? I’ve had extensions but haven’t heard of this.

LilQuim · 18/02/2019 08:38

@superstar63 yayyyyyyyyy! Bet they look gorgeous!

superstar63 · 18/02/2019 16:18

sorry, no good at photos but very happy with the results and would do again. I even got them wet in the shower today and still looking good (you are supposed to keep them dry for 24 - 72 hours) so I went with 72hrs to be safe lol.

@superstar63
I know this is old but just wondering how long they lasted

superstar63 · 25/11/2019 16:15

I think they lasted a good 4 - 6 weeks

Thank you so much for answering

bettybigballs · 25/11/2019 17:14

I use a home kit for lash lift, bit tricky, time-consuming and takes a bit of getting used to but the results are comparable to when I was getting them done at the salon.
