Belted winter coats - would it suit a non dainty frame?

I've worn one as a 12/14 but now I'm a 16ish I think it may be less than flattering. - I've seen a gorgeous one on line. Please stop me spending.

Ok, to help you stop spending, I think it will look hideous and people will laugh.
In actual fact though I think it would look nice

Tootrousers I saw the first line of your answer and was 😲 and then I read the rest...

Hmm, I'm still not convinced that belted works on a winter coat. I have a friend who is quite stylish, slim and athletic (though tall rather than petite0 and when I first say her wearing hers I thought it was a bathrobe. It was halloween and I almost made a comment about her dressing up.

Unless you are 7ft 6 it will not suit you. Belted coats are the same as belted wrapp around dressing gowns... they both make the skinniest Minnie’s look HUGE so us size 14/16 don’t stand a chance!

CountFosco · 27/01/2019 20:33

Well it depends on your height. Size 16 at 6' is a lot slimmer than size 16 at 5'.

But really I hate the tyranny of 'wear what makes you look most attractive' so if you love a wrap coat and you like the way you look then do it. Because your confidence is what make it look good, not dimensions.

There's very few people they look good in.

I just went through my sisters throw outs and there was an old perfect condition fine black wool one from reiss. I tried it on and it was stunning! So flattering! Certainly not tall or thin :)

Kept it
