Hello
I know waterproof coats are done to death but can someone help asap. I've decided to get a janelle
However, all sold out in my size!
(Size 10)

Found.one on eBay new and.its apparently never worn
But its got a different lining to the seasalt website ones. Wondering if it's old stock?
It's cheaper than brand new but still I'm unsure?

The colours and linings change slightly every year so it may be old stock. But if the suppler is reliable and you like the colour, it might be a bargain.

Greyhound22 · 26/01/2019 10:05

I got a really bargainous Seasalt coat on ebay. If you're not bothered by this seasons colours (and who would know really) go for it!

Iusedtobecarmen · 26/01/2019 10:11

Yes that's what I'm.thinking!
I'm not bothered if it's second hand either!
Just didn't want a fake. If there's such a thing a fake seasalt!!

My older navy Janelle has a blue lining and has some red accents. I love it, those colours really cheer me up compared to the current grey.

choppolata · 26/01/2019 10:44

Mine has grey fleecy lining, it is from about 4 years ago.

Olecranon · 26/01/2019 11:55

I got a black janelle for work a couple of months ago when they took £20 off it. I love it. Mine has a grey fleecy lining on the top half. It is a good length.

Iusedtobecarmen · 26/01/2019 12:13

I really want it now. Wish I'd looked earlier in the week!!
Do They come up big. I'm a regular size 10. 5ft 3

cowfacemonkey · 26/01/2019 12:16

They come up big. I ordered a 10 (5ft5 and 9 and half stone) and it felt huge. They didn’t have an 8 in squid ink in stock online but I phone customer services and they located one in a UK branch and posted it to me. I love it, it’s the warmest coat I’ve ever had!

Iusedtobecarmen · 26/01/2019 16:00

Ok thanks I might get an 8 then.
Glad it's warm!
It doesnt look like it would be that warm.
I like the length as I've got a couple of warm or waterproof ish coats that only just cover my bum

My squid ink one has a creamy colour fleece lining and it's about 4 years old. I imagine they change the colour occasionally.

NorthernGravy · 26/01/2019 17:53

I’m on my second. I lost weight so sold my first one on Facebook. They are very generously sized. I wear a 14 usually and my Janelle is a 10. Bought it last year and it has grey lining. The one problem I have with it is that the reflective lining on the inside of the cuffs has cracked a bit through washing it. It is handy though if you walk in the dark (we live semi rural so it is useful).

willowpillow · 26/01/2019 18:14

Sorry to slightly derail the thread but one of the poppers that attach the hood to coat has come loose from the fabric. Does anyone one know if Seasalt will do repairs?

SquatBetty · 26/01/2019 19:04

willow - the same thing happened to me with my Northstar coat. I emailed seasalt and they sent me a couple of replacement poppers. I have yet to work out how to attach a new one, though.

choppolata · 26/01/2019 19:05

willow I had a problem with one of the pocket zips on mine and contacted them to ask about repairs. They had apparently had an iffy batch of zips and sent me a whole new coat!

willowpillow · 26/01/2019 19:31

Thank you both for replying, I will contact them.

Iusedtobecarmen · 28/01/2019 10:17

Sorry to be boring.
I've now found a seasalt flagship on eBay. This seems like another old stock or one that's no longer in store. Anyone know anything about these coats?
Cold snap coming and i need a coat asap!!

I'm not sure of that flagship one, I have just looked on the Seasalt website for the Janelle and the outside poppers are colour coordinated to the fabric whereas the flagship one has silver poppers on the outside.

It might be fine but for the sake of saving £30 I would go for the one from Seasalt for peace of mind.

Iusedtobecarmen · 28/01/2019 11:06

Yes I'm not convinced about the flagship one either. Really want a proper janelle but.out of stock!!

OP posts:
willowpillow · 28/01/2019 11:07

Are all the colours out of stock in your size, or are you wanting a specific colour?

Noisygirls · 28/01/2019 17:21

I’ve had a Janelle for 3 years, only worn occasionally. Within weeks of having it a seam had split which think they gave me £10 or 20 for. Now all the zips have gone. I’m so disappointed. I can’t stress how much this cost wasn’t worn all that much (can’t wear for work so only weekend cost in rainy weather mid winter). I’m not convinced of quality.

Kelliem · 28/01/2019 20:12

I had the flag ship one, got it a couple of years ago. Loved it. Put it in at start of winter and saw it had a tear, so went to sea salt basically to buy a new one. Anyway, they told me that the coat had a lifetime guarantee and that it should never tear so gave me a full refund. Great customer service!!
