Joules Stormont vs. Stormbridge

I've been looking for a good waterproof coat for a while and realised too late that Joules Stormont is probably the best bet. It's obviously sold out everywhere except for some on Ebay etc. I'm only petite so fear that Seasalt coats might be too long for me. The Stormbridge is still available in stores/online and I tried it on today - good fit but I wasn't too keen on the rustle...does the Stormont rustle too? In the unlikely event that I manage to find one in my size online and won't be able to return it...I'm weird but I really don't like the rustle.
Does anyone know if they are otherwise similar? Length appears to be the same, not sure about the thickness - could you wear the Stormont all winter?

I have a Stormont.
I'm not sure about the rustle. I'll check it out.
I find my arms are cold in it- the rest of it is very warm and waterproof. I wish they'd line the arms with something better than the polyester lining. Smile

If you actually want a good waterproof coat Joules really aren't all that, it's more fashion wear really (although might well be waterproof enough for your lifestyle)

If the Joules stuff isn't quite right, then take a look at some of the horse riding brands?
Ariat for example have some gorgeous well made stuff, look in their leisure section rather than the rider wear bit. Or Kramer if you don't want to spend as much. Joules started as a horsey / country wear brand before becoming more mainstream so these brands tends to have similar styles (but sometimes can be better quality as they have to stand up to a country lifestyle, rather than just small town fashion Grin )

Thank you! Interesting to know about the arms. I feel cold easily so would definitely need something warm and wind proof. I don't have a massive budget and would mainly need it for school runs/days out/small town fashion Blush Grin
I've looked at other high street options, Regatta etc but wasn't too keen on their offerings.

Oh I wasn't meaning anything negative about small town fashion! Blush I'd describe myself as small town fashion tbh. I was meaning clothes that you need to be practical but also look good but you're not expecting to go hill walking or anything.

Something like this? m.kramer.co.uk/Rider/Womens-Riding-Wear/Riding-Jackets-Coats-Gilets/Riding-Coats-Parkas/Hooded-Functional-Coat-Piku

No problem, described my style actually! Grin
Thanks for the links, they're very nice but I'm after something longer...the Joules parka I tried on was perfect length (knee length), I think Seasalt Janelle (for example) would be too long...Sad

I tried the Seasalt Janelle and the Joules Stormont and went for the Joules Stormont.
I got a chance to try the Seasalt Janelle again after buying the Joules and I
had no regrets.
It rustles a teeny tiny bit OP. Smile

TheOriginalMessyBun · 03/02/2019 09:51

Thanks beanaseireann! What would you say was the main thing with the Joules coat that you preferred to the Seasalt Janelle?
I may be able to put up with the teeny tiny rustle...Smile

The Joules just looked better on me.
The only downside with the Joules is the arms are lined in polyester and aren't warm. Mind you I was just wearing a three quarter length sleeved dress underneath and it was just above freezing.
My dsis has a Lands End Commuter coat- it's sooo warm and waterproof but looks a bit Michelin Man on her.
Have a look at Lands End Stadium Squall coat.

TheOriginalMessyBun · 13/02/2019 10:29

Thanks beanaseireann!
I managed to get the Joules one and love it, the length, the fit and don't even mind the slight rustle Smile
