Make up essentials for a beginner on a budget

Nearly 40 and very rarely wear make up but want to start dabbling in a nude-ish but well groomed look. Don't want to spend a lot of money, so what are the best buys? I have a reddish facial complexion so have always found it hard to look like I have even skin tones without slapping on loads of foundation that probably doesn't match my colouring.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Go to a department store and get properly matched fir a foundation. This will cost a bit but you can save elsewhere

Then a bronze shadow stick - try Kiko, CYO or Nyx for good budget choices

Any mascara (I’ve never seen any difference between high end and Rimmel etc), try black/brown for less harsh than dark black

Blusher - I really like Max Factor Nude Mauve which is a lovely natural brightener

A nice lipstick or gloss, nude/plum suit most people. Personally I think matte lipsticks can look aging on us 40 somethings. Max Factir Colour Elixir Cushion is a nice half way between gloss and lipstick (I use Shine in Glam)
