Where would you recommend looking for a dress to go out for dinner? Not fancy, just to look like I have made a bit of an effort! Would prefer high street shops, or concessions in a department store so that I can try them on before buying, but online recommendations would be good too.

I got a lovely full length posh frock from M & Co. Very reasonably priced too. Good luck.

Agree re M&Co, also H&M. Is Evans a no? Also Sainsbury's goes up to a 22 and they have some nice stuff.

Hi I've recently discovered lady vintage london (online) sale prices are great, their sizing is generous (i usually go down a size) upto 22, returns are free.

Thanks all, Will have a look at the suggestions.

I have never heard of M&Co, so will have a look. Didn't know H&M did plus sizes so, again, will have a look.

Have a bit of a mental block with Evans (probably from when I was much slimmer than I am now!).

Loads of great places online. Trying on in store is hard; most places have shifted their plus size online. I'm a 22 and for in store my usual options are M&S, Next, Monsoon, and a tiny minority of concessions in John Lewis.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 25/01/2019 07:58

I must say I rarely buy from Evans these days - aside from basics like linen trousers etc. - it's all a bit Pat Wicks.

Ann Harvey used to be lovely but they got bought by Evans Angry

What size are you? Makes a fair difference whether a 22 or 28. Lots of ‘nornal’ ranges go up to a 22.

Deathraystare · 25/01/2019 14:55

Monsoon?

John Lewis (Oxford Street) has Chesca - a range that does big sizes (but not every JL does it so check before you go!

Ditto - not every H&M has a plus dept so check before you go as some stores just stay to look online.

There is also a shop called Yours (there is one in Uxbridge and I guess they are online too. Bit hit and miss - might not be sophsiticated enough for you though.

Cmagic7 · 25/01/2019 14:58

Try ASOS - they've got quite a few ranges with larger sizes
