Buying perfume from eBay?

Was wondering about people's experience of buying discontinued perfume on eBay.

Any tips? Do you just hope for the best or is there a way of knowing what to steer clear of?

I've bought discontinued perfume from ebay and not had any issues. I look at the sellers reviews and go from there.

I've both bought and sold perfume on eBay without issues. Both new and part used ones. Most people are genuine I find. I've bought and sold loads of stuff.

Great! Thanks for the responses.

Hi OP. You'd be very welcome over on the Perfumista thread.

It depends a bit on what you're looking out for on eBay? And how likely you are to encounter either a) a fake or b) something that's gone off?

CocoMadwoman · 24/01/2019 23:10

I buy a lot of my perfume from eBay. Mainly samples or part used full bottles.

Look at the seller’s satisfaction ratings and feedback, and if it’s vintage stuff you’re after be particularly cautious as a) it’s sometimes nothing of the sort and b) can sometimes be so old/badly stored it’s gone off.

Thanks everyone.

I was idly thinking about Tom Ford Violet Blonde, I've still got plenty left but I will be sad when it runs out.

Hi OP - I might feel more confident about a part used bottle (only because it would be lower cost and lower risk)? If the seller can say where and when they bought it, how they've stored it and whether it still smells fresh/good, then I tend to take a punt. Good luck!

What about The Perfume Parlour ? They make copies and are allegedly very good, great reviews.

CocoMadwoman · 25/01/2019 21:49

Is Violet Blonde discontinued?

I EAT my discontinued favourites on eBay, honestly 😆. I’ve purchased 3 x part-used bottles of Love, Chloe in the last 8 weeks...and thank the Lord I did, because it suddenly seems to be going for ££££.

So on that note, OP, I say...go for it! Grin.

PP do a version. No idea if it's anything like the real deal? Their take on Sahara Noir isn't similar, but it smells very good all the same. Worth asking on the Perfumista thread if anyone has tied it if you are in the market for a cheap substitute.
