I love the smell although DH is not a fan. I use it after a bath on my fave and neck. I also slap it in my cheeks when going for dog walks in the winter as my skin dries out so much. I might look a bit shiny but I don’t see many people in the woods.

What is the smell? I can’t put my finger on it. DH said it smells like roses but it seems more medicinal to me.

Does anyone use it under makeup? I wear makeup everyday, I don’t think it would sit well on top of it so I might just use it at nighttime.

The smell reminds me of the old coal tar soap.

It's nice as a general salve on lips, dry noses etc, but I prefer the Nuxe balm now. 8 hour is great to use on long haul flights on your face to prevent skin drying out too.

Mostly lips, knees, hands.
Pat it on my face in bitterly cold weather.

Love the smell and a tube lasts ages.

I think of it like an expensive baseline. I use it on patches of dry skin & chappedlips.

On my cuticles and any cracked skin.

I can't bear the smell, like axle grease, I'm glad other people think the same. Grin

I use clinique moisture surge spray, it has a delicate smell (if at all) and doesn't fight with my (light) foundation.

I use it if I go a bit pink in the sun, it is amazing for helping your skin recover.

Fullfatlatte · 24/01/2019 19:52

Great on lips overnight. I’ve also used it on my son’s shoulders when he got burnt on holiday, really soothed & healed the skin.

Monty27 · 24/01/2019 20:00

It's like lanolin bleurgh.
Good post because I've been wondering the same.
I did put foundation on top once after it soaked in as such and it was fine.
I'm not keen on the orange colour or greasy texture either. Mine is clarins I think. Maybe Elizabeth Arden.

GlitterPixie · 24/01/2019 20:02

I use it as a lip balm only it’s too greasy for anything else. I can only stand the fragrance free one though

It’s wonderful if you’ve got a cold and are continually wiping your nose. Rub it on your nose at night and you won’t go through that horrible post-cold flaky-nose stage.

I use it on lips and hands in the winter. However, I have now discovered the 8 hour Nighttime cream which I love. It smells much nicer and has a thicker consistency and I’m using it almost daily on my haggard old dry skin. It gives me a dewy look. (As dewy as it is possible to look at my age and after years of smoking and late nights- not that I do either of those anymore!)
