MAC lip primer copy?

Is this essentially a lip balm? The make up lady used it on me pre lipstick and it looked great but is it worth it?

It goes on a bit like a lip balm but the trick is to apply it to clean dry lips and then wait around 1 minute and it goes really tacky and sticky and then your lipstick really clings to it. I found it works well for matte lipsticks or drying bold colours. I used to use It often but tend to stick to tinted lip balms and sheer lip colours these days so don’t really need it anymore.

I’ve noticed that ELF and NYX do lip primers which could be worth checking out as a cheaper alternative.

I’ve almost come to the end of my Mac lip primer. I don’t think I’ll buy it again because I didn’t think it did anything particularly special and it started to snap off halfway through. I’ve been using Burt’s Bees All Weather lip balm (the only BB lip balm I like) which is similarly tacky and seems to do the job at a fraction of the price. It also has the bonus of SPF.

I love it, especially under matte lipsticks. As a previous poster says, the trick is to let it set for a minute before you apply anything over it.

I have a similar one from Superdrug’s MUA range. Pout primer? Come in a black chubby stick.

so she used it on me with a strong matte colour and it lasted the rest of the evening but I don't go out enough these days to justify it, maybe I'll try MUA instead

If u can’t find that MUA one OP, the ‘B’ range in Superdrug also do a good lip primer (but not a stick balm, looks more like a white liquid lipstick but works well under matte lippy)
