Handbag help

I'm treating myself to a new handbag, and have a budget of £300

I've always loved Mulberry and have seen a Darla Hobo for £269 black in great condition. This would suit my current lifestyle as I have an 8 month old so would be able to chuck all his stuff in there as well as my normal stuff.

But I wonder if this would look dated and what other brands are out there now for good handbags? I've not kept up todate as I wasn't looking for one before, so am not sure where to look.

I love slouchy big bags. In grey, oak or taupe would be nice but black is ok too.

I love mulberry and I think certainly their older styles are classic enough that they don’t really date. I’d happily carry a Darla if I was into hobo styles (have been in the past but not really my thing atm). The black one does look great, an acquaintance of mine had one and it always looked good with whatever she was wearing. I’d go with it if you love it, it’ll look good because you’ll feel great carrying it.

If you’re not wedded to the idea of mulberry then you could possibly get a hobo from Coach. You might even be able to get two, if you buy in the sale. But I’m not keen on Coach, personally. Not sure why, really.

Aspinal also have a lovely hobo in their sale atm in a beautiful Bordeaux colour. I could actually fall back in love with the style, I think, if I had that bag.

They do it in a taupe as well, if that’s any good - and you would have change left for a purse or scarf to match!

But is taupe really going to be practical for lugging about all day with a baby as well? Not sure...The good thing about black is it stays looking great for a long time.

Mind you the one I’ve linked to may be a little too structured for you, compared to the Darla.

Good luck in finding your perfect bag!

I bought the Daria, didn't love it and have sold it on already! The search continues!

I'm some how not surprised that you didn't like the Daria. If it were that good, Mulberry would still be selling it imo!

I definitely would try looking at Aspinal bags. They're really beautiful, but as a PP said, they may be a bit too structured for your taste.

Mitzy hobo is supposed to be roomy and bullet proof - several to choose from; messenger, East/west etc. come up well within your budget. Plenty about too.
There's a rouge for £225 if memory serves me right on one of the groups if you fancy something more colourful

Coach, for me, are quite structured

Fossil have the quality of leather and a more casual look

Long champ le pliage - there's a leather version but not sure how much

IloveJudgeJudy · 06/02/2019 12:41

I've just had an email re Radley Patcham Palace hobo half price. I'm not a Rafley fan, but that looks pretty good, especially in tan, which I don't normally like, either.

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 06/02/2019 20:52

I’ve got the Mitzy hobo and it’s much nicer than the Daria. It’s one of my favourite bags, so I’d definitely recommend it! But it’s not got a zip closure.

Longchamp leather version of the Le Pliage (can’t remember what it’s called, Cuir I think?) goes from mid £300s to upper £500s. There was a lovely olive/khaki one, and a couple of other colours, in the Jan sale for £260ish but I’m not sure if it’s still running.
