Thermal underwear

I'm freezing! My thermals have been eaten by moths and i did a quick whizz around some shops the other day to buy more but mostly sold out or only sizes 20-22 left.

I can't think where to find affordable merino thermal underwear for women. Any tips? I'm a size 10.

Asda. They used to do reasonably priced, serviceable thermals

Hullabalooo · 23/01/2019 16:55

Thanks. Do they do merino and or natural fibres?

I use Sainsbury's Tu thermals and they are really comfortable. Not merino though, Mountain Warehouse do merino ones for kids so probably for adults too.

Decathlon and tresspass do merino thermals. Icebreaker and smartwool are a bit nicer... you can get them on amazon, sometimes at reduced prices. M and s and uniqlo do really nice ultra-thin thermals which are composed of man-made fabrics, but are great for layering.

Thanks for this. Wish I had got these sorted sooner. Can't seem to get warm!

Have you been to a hiking store? They always have the best quality.

Mountain warehouse do merino thermals, currently half price in the sale:

www.sportpursuit.com but check the delivery times - some quick, some very slow but I've got really good merino thermals from here at a good price. Rohan, Howies and Finisterre worth a look as well.

Uniqlo thermals are brilliant.

Holidayshopping · 23/01/2019 20:19

I have got quite a few uniqlo heat tech tops. They are lovely and comfortable but I wouldn’t say they were very warm!

Hullabalooo · 23/01/2019 22:42

Thanks all.. That's really helpful!

I do like the uniqlo heat tech ones but don't see them as thermals as they're not warm enough really. I find them useful for a cold day when you have errands underneath other things rather than when it's properly cold but useful nonetheless

@potplant2 thanks for the heads up. Just got some. Hooray!

I live M&S silk mix thermals

PickAChew · 23/01/2019 22:51

They're not listed as thermal but I have a few of last year's version of these, from markses, and they're lovely and warm.

GreenTulips · 23/01/2019 22:53

Try looking for Skins instead much better than thermals as they have more stretch and less sag - try sports direct

RandomMess · 23/01/2019 22:53

@PickAChew mine are 15 years old and still going strong! I assume it's the silk that makes them so warm - natural fibres etc

PickAChew · 23/01/2019 22:55

And yes, random, mine were listed as thermal. These have virtually identical fabric composition and look to be the same mix.

aldi sometimes do merino stuff. look out for special buys ski, cycling.
