Microdermabrasion- is it good? And IPL for pigmentation?

I had a session of this today and my face feels fresher but I can't really see a difference. My skin does feel exfoliated though

Does anyone have it, and do you have to do a load to see the benefits?

They also tried to sell me IPL for my pigmentation which shows as subtle patches on my face in the summer. I'm considering doing this but it's £££ and I'm not sure what the result will be...anyone had it?

I think the decision on what to use depends on the type of skin you have. If you have olive or brown skin with pigmentation someone like Dr Sam Bunting would probably tell you to steer well clear of microdermabrasion due to the potential for any post-treatment inflammatory response to lead to more pigmentation. The choice of whether and if so what type of laser to use is also important. Bottom line: many beauty salons will try to sell you a solution without the knowledge to back it up. If it's a big concern and/or you're determined to get rid of it I would go to a cosmetic dermatologist. Yes, you'll have to pay, but the cost can be competitive when compared to multiple facial/beauty treatments.
