Ring Hallmark mystery

I received a lovely ring for Christmas, and was nosing at the hallmarks to find out how old it was, who made it etc.

It's mysterious because:
It's an old cut round diamond in an Art Deco style setting
Maker’s stamp was BHJ, which is a mark that stopped being used in 1929

  • this would suggest the 20's

BUT, it's white gold, which apparently wasn't used until the war, and I can't make the year mark make any sense?

Can anyone help?

Hallmark:
BHJ - crown symbol - 750 - leopards head - then (dodgy only) possibly lower case r, maybe capital H at a stretch.

This thread will tell you pretty much all you need to know (it references the 750 on the hallmark). Lovely ring!

So leopards head means assayed in London. Date letters here webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/+/www.britishhallmarkingcouncil.gov.uk/publications/hallmarks2.pdf

That was the post that inspired me to investigate it in fact!

I found a link to date marks etc, but couldn't see one that looked like the stamp?

Did you ever figure this out?
My ring has same stamp and I’m super curious
