What to wear with these trousers?

I've just got these trousers from Monsoon sale. I really like them,

If the pic isn't clear, they are navy with a slim mustard and dark red pinstripe.

I want to wear them for work but not sure what to pair them with. They are with a navy sweater in the pic but that's too casual I think.

Would a dark red jacket look ridiculous? I wouldn't wear a mustard jacket. Help me make the most of my bargain please!

Why is a jumper too casual? I’d wear them with a merino fine-knit jumper myself. However, if you’re sure you can’t do that, how about a navy silky blouse, tucked in?

I think a red jacket might be a bit too “ringmaster”. I’d be inclined to stick to a navy give knit jumper or white shirt.

I would stick to a navy top half. I don't think a jumper would be too casual. You could wear a similar navy jumper to the model. Or, if you want to look smarter, a nazy blazer. And then navy, red or mustard shoes.

I suppose it depends on your workplace/job but in my opinion, the trousers themselves are quite casual.

I would go with a nice white or black shirt tucked in. Silky shirts are in right now and would pair well with the trousers.

Do you have photos of the dark red jacket? It’s hard to picture it, eg a deep maroon blazer might look okay

Also wearing a shirt under a jumper can look quite smart if you leave the collar of the shirt on show beneath the jumper

I don't have a red jacket so no pics. It was just a thought but I agree re the ringmaster look

I'm now looking for a really soft fine knit navy sweater. I have a dark red v- neck sweater that will do until I find the right navy one.

I was worried a sweater would be too casual but if I find the right jewellery (chunky maybe?), i think it'll be good.

I have 3 of these fine knit merino jumpers, including navy . They are quite pricey, quite delicate, but really warm and light, and I wear them all the time. merino jumpers

Uniqlo is good for fine knit merino jumpers, agree with PPs, those trousers need everything else to be plain so they look good.

Zara do fine knits in navy in their Basic collection for about £12. I wear mine a lot.
