Philips zoom tooth whitening

I have recently been using Philips Zoom 10% take home tooth whitening. I’m really disappointed with the results. I can’t see any change. Has anybody had an experience with this. Could I be doing it wrong???

I’m the same - used it twice daily for a couple of weeks before Christmas. Saw a small initial improvement now I think back to usual colour again.. very disappointing! I usually left the gel on 30 mins at a time. Still have some tubes left so might try again.

Sorry to hear you’ve had the same experience cheesy. I’ve been leaving it on for about 3 or 4 hours once a day. Really disappointed after spending nearly £300.

If you want an instant result you are better off having the in-chair whitening at the dentist.

It will just be a lot slower using the at home kit. Make sure you are following all the instructions carefully and follow up - so have basically a "white/clear" diet while you are using it - No tea, coffee, red wine, beetroot etc. and for 24 hrs after your last use

If you still are drinking tea and coffee while still using it you will just be restaining your teeth because it makes the tooth surface more porous.

Also I don't know which kit you have but if it's not the night whitening one, you are only supposed to leave it on for an hour and it stops working after that - so if leaving it on for 3 hours you aren't achieving anything.

This may depend on what kit you have - if it's a 1 hr one or the night one.

Thank you tellit. Yes I have the night one. I have still been drinking tea, maybe that’s the problem! I don’t for an hour after I’ve used it. Think I’m going to struggle to give up tea Grin I think I should have done the in chair whitening. Bother!

I also wish I’d had in chair zoom whitening. I got trays and bleach from dentist and noticed some difference but not particularly dramatic. I love tea and I’m not going to give it up so 🤷‍♀️

I’ve been drinking tea & coffee all along too - agree it’s going to be hard to stop completely. My dentist never flagged this & as Bumbletop it has cost me about 300 quid too so would expect to see a better result than crest white strips I paid a few dollars for years ago. Feel the dentist misled me re results to expect 🙁

Bumbledop · 22/01/2019 21:26

Seems I’m not the only one who is disappointed with the results. What a waste if money. I have an appointment with my dentist in a couple of weeks for a review, i will complain then.

Your teeth are very porous after doing it so I’m surprised your teeth aren’t worse after drinking tea and coffee while bleaching. You need to be on white foods while bleaching and for minimum 1 day afterwards. Drink water and eat plain pasta, white sauce etc and you will see better results.

My dentist has given me top-up trays that I can use at home (if I wish). But I overheard another patient at the same time being told about white/clear food/drinks etc for 24 hours after the treatment and that worried me as I need my morning coffee! So I asked my dentist and he said that I can drink tea or coffee but it must be through a straw i.e. it bypasses your teeth and hits your throat instead. That was good enough for me! And it worked just fine.

Bumbledop · 22/01/2019 22:20

I’m off to get some straws tomorrow. I definitely can’t manage without my tea. Everything else I can go without, but not tea! My dentist didn’t mention their. Thank you for the advice!

Thanks I’ll have to try the straws too!

Yes I have the night one. I have still been drinking tea, maybe that’s the problem! I don’t for an hour after I’ve used it.

The advice is no tea/coffee/red wine at all while you are using it and for 24 hours after last use.

The teeth as I said go sort of porous while you are using it so you need to be ruthless with it.

Think I’m going to struggle to give up tea grin I think I should have done the in chair whitening.

I'd highly recommend the in chair whitening. It's a bit of a faff as it takes a couple of hours but the results are great.
