Hi I've had dyed dark redshirt for about 14 years now. Curious as to whether I could go lighter.
Has anyone successfully managed this?

I did. I used to dye mine red/pink and got bored. I colour stripped it and then my friend who is a hairdresser lightened it for me. I miss my red hair but was such high maintenance! Went from this to this. I did let the red fade before colour stripping and used shampoo I knew would fade it quicker.

@Chesneyhawkes1 your hair looks lush! I'm so tempted but worried...

Maybe go see a hair dresser and see what they say. I've got a bit of a "what's the worst that can happen" attitude to my hair 😂

After I colour stripped it, it was a bit orangey but some bleach soon sorted that out. I'm lucky that my hair seems to lift well.

First I had just the ends blonde and the too dark brown, now I've got highlights through the top as well. They didn't lift as well but still look nice.

I also went from 20+years of box dyed red to a balayage a couple of years ago.

As my hair is blondish at the ends now, I can still use semi-perm crazy colours for a change when I want to.

I loved red but as PP said, it's high maintenance and mine used to fade to a yukky orange tone (as per the pic)
