Me and DP have decided to get married next year but in a very modest way. Probably just a registery office ceremony with family, meal with family and then a big party in the evening with everyone invited. I want a nice dress but not a traditional floor length white lace type. Would like to wear the same thing all day to save money and faff. I am also only 5'2 so would like something petite sized if possible. Would like to spend under £500. Any suggestions? I could do with some help and ideas.

For £500, I expect you'd be able to get something made for you by an experienced dressmaker, especially if you're looking for something non-traditional. It sounds a decent budget for that, and it would be made to fit your proportions too.

I wore a coast bridesmaid outfit when I got married. It was a skirt and top but looked like a dress.

I’m only 5ft 1 and the petite was great on me.

I'd have something made too, proportions are so important to a dress looking right.

My friend got married in a monsoon wedding dress & it was honestly more beautiful than some dresses I’ve sent that cost thousands.

This is one of the bridesmaids dresses (I would totally wear as a wedding dress):

Or this wedding dress (shorter cut):

Or this one....

(I’ll shut up now! They are lovely though)

‘Seen’ not ‘sent’ 🙄

I got my wedding dress from chichi London in the sale for £40. It's a champagne coloured lace tea dress so not the normal white wedding dress style.

I hadn't thought of getting a dress handmade.

Not really sure what I want to know what to ask for.

I like some of the phase eight dresses... And I like chichi London (and they do a petite range) but don't have much that grabs my attention at the moment.
