It actually to use as a tidy for the myriad USB cables we require.
At present they are neatly stored in a box with toilet roll inner tubes! Very Blue Peter, functional but mot pretty!

The sections need to be deeper than that-- I fold the cables so that the connections are sticking up so that you can see which one it is. Like this
