Please critique my weekly facial

I have just added the dermaflannel and Paula's choice 2% BHA to my skincare. I am using them on alternative days as I seem to think I have read you shouldn't do both on the same day.

I also do a weekly facial where I usually wash, exfoliate, use a facial steamer, blackhead nose strips, face mask and moisturise. Since the dermaflannel is now my exfoliate and also sorts out pores would you suggest I now do wash, steam, dermaflannel, facemask, moisturise? So skip the exfoliate and nose strips? Have I got the order right and am I doing too much / too little?

Thanks

I am not an expert but you are exfoliating too much. If you’re using a scrub, stop. pore strips are a bad idea (I know they are fun). What is your age and skin type?

Thanks NiteFlights.

41 and skin is fairly normal (I think!).

Yes, I'm thinking the dermaflannel replaces the exfoliate scrub and pore strips.

Sorry, on my skin, I get the odd spot plus have either blackheads or visible-ish pores on nose and bit on chin.

I’m a similar age but my skin is dry so my concerns are different, I guess it depends on whether you feel your regime is working for you and if not, what you are aiming for. I don’t believe there is a certain number of products or steps that is ‘right’, a lot depends on the individual (and not least how much time and money they want to spend on their skin).

Having said that, your regime sounds a bit harsh to me, and you seem to be mainly exfoliating when you could perhaps try some more anti-ageing things like retinoids, if you wanted. I would suggest that you have a look at the Paula’s Choice and Ordinary websites to get ideas about a regime that would work for you, and include some weekly treatments as it sounds like something you enjoy doing. Also I am sure you know this, but don’t forget you need a decent SPF, especially using BHA and even more if you start using retinoids.

I hope this helps, I am surprised nobody else has come along to offer their advice!
