Nice classic but inexpensive piece of jewelry?

My DM died last year and her affairs have now been settled and I received a small sum. I'd like to have something that would be like a last gift from her but I'm not a big jewelry wearer. I have my wedding/engagement ring, another plain-ish ring and I wear ear-rings but fairly utilitarian ones. I don't really wear necklaces but I do like a bracelet/bangle from time to time.

I want to spend maybe up to about £200 so not a fortune, but want something fairly classic rather than a fashion item.

I know it might be an odd choice for someone who doesn't wear much jewelry, but I want something I can keep and that I can have with me all the time rather than say, an ornament or piece of artwork and I can't think of anything else.

I now have about 400 tabs open so I think I am going to favourite them all and come back to it in the morning. She liked birds so I'm now thinking maybe something with a bird maybe? God I miss her :(

Do you like eternity rings? Lots of options here in your price range.

Fusioluxe · 19/01/2019 23:52

Check Alex monroe’s bird jewellery. Very pretty.

Thank you all and thank you for the new links. I've opened them and saved the links and will have a look through. I'm going to head to bed now and come at it refreshed tomorrow. I'm sure i'll find something now that you've given me some new ideas.

Then it needs to be something specific to your taste, and special to you rather than a generic item surely? If it's not your style, you won't want to wear it.

You may prefer plain and utilitarian, but what does that look like to you?

I hope you are you find something you love.

WaxOnFeckOff · 20/01/2019 00:07

I think that's true Motorcycle, but because I don't really have/wear a lot I think i'm not really sure what my taste is so was looking for some ideas of designers/brands to look at. You sometimes don't know until someone links something and you you start to narrow that down. i appreciate that might be frustrating for people suggesting things and I hope I haven't offended or dismissed anyone's suggestions callously. Even the things you don't like are helpful as it helps to focus you towards something else.

Apart from my rings, the only bangles I wear regularly are these:

You haven't been at all dismissive, don't worry!

How about this style:

St Justin jewellery is very in keeping with the style of those bangles.

Some more birds.

I'm the same with jewellery OP. I don't wear much and never know where to start. Sorry about your mum. Thanks

BikeRunSki · 20/01/2019 16:38

I thought about a charm bracelet Bike but I wasn't sure if it was too "now"?

I wear mine just as it is, without charms,

AwkwardAsAllGetout · 20/01/2019 16:41

I really love Rust Jewellery. I bought this to commemorate something last year and I wear it everyday. Before I’d never worn necklaces but I love this.

nooddsocksforme · 20/01/2019 17:07

sheilafleet.com/collections/shoreline-pebble/emn168 This a bit different

sheilafleet.com/collections/shoreline-pebble/emn168 lovely but over your budget

www.nancysmillieshop.com/collections/necklace/products/raun-n26a. A bit more reasonable

WhatFreshHellisCis · 20/01/2019 17:12

awkward that’s gorgeous

DontCallMeCharlotte · 20/01/2019 17:36

This is similar to an earlier suggestion but plainer. There are other lovely things on that site as well.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 20/01/2019 17:37

They also do it in silver and rose gold.

WaxOnFeckOff · 20/01/2019 18:16

Thank you for all the beautiful suggestions, there are some really lovely things there. I'm leaning towards the Links of London charm bracelet but kept very plain with one charm that represents her. I'm thinking between a robin, a locket, a heart or they do one in her birthstone (i'm not sure if that would be weird as it's not the same as mine?) My birthstone is pearl so I wont go with that.

I like dragonflies and they do one of those but it's over £400! so that's a no!

Do you need to get a jeweller to add the charms on?

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 20/01/2019 18:17

I like a lot of the necklaces posted but I think I would wear the bracelet more.

MotorcycleMayhem · 20/01/2019 19:12

I have a Links Sweetie bracelet, and you can put the charms on yourself. What about a charm each for your mum, you and your daughters?

And no, it's not at all strange to have a birthstone on there that isn't yours.

grumiosmum · 20/01/2019 20:03

Take a look at Dinny Hall.

A ring, maybe? www.dinnyhall.com

Autumnchill · 20/01/2019 20:12

We have a local jewellery maker, Daniella Draper. I purchased a necklace from her when my mum died and I have a couple of bracelets from there.

WaxOnFeckOff · 20/01/2019 20:22

Thanks Motorcycle, I have boys not girls, my sisters both have a daughter which is another reason it made more sense for them to have the jewellery from my mum. I'm thinking maybe a robin and a heart. I might get a birthstone one on her birthday.
