spring sun, sandals & blisters

Come mid-March I’m going away. It’ll be hot so sandals weather. But I won’t have had bare feet for ages and want to avoid blisters. Some of this trip involves quite formal stuff so not flip flops.

I have been warned off surgical spirit to harden my feet, and it’s been suggested I moisturise them instead.

I’m totally confused and wonder if anyone has advice for me.

I love saltwater sandals (the 'classic' ones) they come in loads of different colours and suited my feet really well. I'd recommend wearing whatever shoes you end up buying indoors for a little while before you go on holiday, to try to break them in.

My mistake, I've just checked and immune are the original, not classics! Although they're very similar 🤷🏼‍♀️ I've had mine for three years and they still look great! I'm itching to get another pair in a different colour this summer

Invest in a selection of Compeed blister plasters and put one as soon as any sign of rubbing . They can be cut down in size and are an essential for me in the warmer months .

Start wearing your sandals round the house now to break them in?

ChippyMinton · 19/01/2019 07:16

Moleskin plaster is good too. Can stick it to the shoe or your foot.

I live in sandals 10 months of the year. Find comfy, padded ones and my feet would be fine. Earth Spirit, Naturalizer and walking ones have all been good for me (except one pair of Merrells which took a few weeks to be comfy).
Can you wear them round the house before you go to check they will be comfy?

I find https://www.teva.co.uk/women-sandals really comfortable.

Second compeed plasters for emergencies, but mostly find a pair that are comfortable to start with.

Thanks
Buying some moleskin strips to line my shoes and compeed bluster chaff stick
I’ll wear my sandals around the house too and keep my fingers crossed for my trip

This may sound daft but I rub anti chafing gel on the bits of my feet that are rubbing and it's helps to reduce the friction. It's not perfect but does allievate the friction.
