Style me for this hen do...

I'm off to a hen do in London with a group of verrry stylish late 30 something ladies. It's lunch in a swanky restaurant followed by cocktails and possibly dancing somewhere. I'll be arriving by train and will have a bit of a walk to get to the venue. It will be February and cold so coat option needed too. Oh and I can't afford to shop very high end so as cheap as possible would be best!!
I'm a size 12, 5'7 with cool winter colourings. I have no idea what to wear. At all. What do you think would be good for this kind of thing? Thank you!

I’m sorry I don’t know what cool winter means. But I’d be going for a dress worn over black opaque tights and ankle boots. With a leather jacket if mild but more likely just your coat.

If you're a cool winter, you can get away with black and dark, dramatic greens and purples. I would say keep it as simple as possible - a mid-calf length dress in one of the above-mentioned colours, ankle boots (low-heeled since you'll be walking), and tights to contrast with the dress (nothing too mad, but I think black dress black tights black boots would be a bit funereal for cocktails). I wouldn't go for opaques unless it's sub-zero, unless you're a "cold" person generally. On that note - London never gets properly cold as far as I'm concerned, especially if you have to use the Tube, so a short biker-style jacket would be ideal.

Thank you. A dress sounds like a good option. I'll keep my eyes peeled!
