Mumsnet help please! The search for the perfect Hobo bag....

I’ve been searching on and off for about a month and have spent hours online today and yet the perfect Hobo escapes me.

I’ve seen loads that look great but are too small

Requirements are: leather, navy or grey, at least 38cm wide and 30cm tall (for my laptop, cables etc), zip top, single flat shoulder strap. Single strap is vital as if two straps then one always slips off my shoulder and drives me mad.

That’s it! Oh and budget ideally below £100 but prepared to up that if the perfect bag is out there, can’t afford more than £175 though and that’s a stretch.

Not worried about brand but no obvious logos if possible.

Does such a bag exist? If anyone spots something I’d be eternally grateful if you could post a link here, many thanks!

Have you looked on the Radley website? They have a massive sale. I bought the rose castle hobo for only £89, reduced from £219. I don’t think it’d be big enough for a laptop though. They might have other styles.

Funny you should mention Radley, I looked on their website earlier and all their large bags seem to be 32cm wide.
The bag I’m taking taking to work tomorrow is a Radley and looks remarkably similar to the Newton Park shoulder bag (albeit a different colour, it’s a couple of years old), size wise it looks the same as the picture with the model but I’ve just measured mine and it’s 42cm wide.

In fact all of their large bags look no smaller than mine and all are stated as circa 32cm wide. It’s very odd!

I’m in London tomorrow so will try to get to a department store with my tape measure and get measuring!

I’ve just measured my Radley bag again and yes, it’s 42cm wide seam to seam when flat BUT the actual base itself is 32cm wide!! DOH...

My laptop, cables etc all fit in it with plenty of room so that now changes everything!
