Where to shop for an 11 year old boy?

DS aged 11 has grown again, so I need to buy him some new clothes. I'm aware that the things I get now are the things he might possibly be wearing when he starts at secondary. He has always had zero interest in what he wears - he's only interested in comfort. Now, on the one hand I love that he's got no fashion sense and wouldn't have a clue about labels etc - and I'm reluctant to start putting those ideas in his head. On the other hand, I'd rather buy him clothes that are at least neutral on the 'cool' scale, so he doesn't open himself up to any teasing etc. So - where do you buy stuff for this age? Until now I've tended to just do the usual high street stuff - Next, M&S, occasionally Gap or Fat Face if I'm feeling flush, sometimes secondhand bits. Do others still buy from these kinds of places? Or are they very uncool? Is there anywhere else (not too pricey!) that I'm missing? He's tall and skinny, by the way. Thanks!

Next and H&M for my 10 almost 11 year old ds. He does have some sports stuff, and he likes motorsports so has some branded stuff in relation to this. He loves wearing Converse and thinks they are very smart but comfy.

My son is 12. He likes Jack Wills, vans, and various surf brands. He went through a phase of nothing but football tops so I'm happy to indulge.

Ds 11 likes skinny jeans or joggers with branded hoodie so Nike, Good for Nothing, Sonetti, Animal etc. He wouldn’t like Boden or Fat Face at all. Not sure about Gap. H&M prob ok. It’s tricky as what’s “cool” will depend on his peer group really.

Starlight456 · 13/01/2019 22:42

H&M or my ds’s (11) favourite it Jd sports. He does also have some primark. But he is year 7 . None uniform school and mostly wears branded.

I also shop at m&m online.

longhaulstress · 13/01/2019 22:44

Depends on his peers and where you are in the country. Round here it's almost exclusively sports wear.
Ds (nearly 11) has a couple of smart bits from H&M otherwise everything else comes from JD or sports direct (Adidas, Nike, under armour, north face).

Drogosnextwife · 13/01/2019 22:45

River island, h and m, jd and foot asylum do some quite good branded clothes, next is good for jeans and the odd jumper.

Passthecake30 · 13/01/2019 22:46

I've just brought ds clothes with the same thing in mind.... his go-to clothes are skinny jeans (Primark as they are the only ones that fit him as he is SO skinny) or very skinny Nike joggers, sports tshirt, hoody and nikes (sports clothes from sports direct). I realise that's not as trendy as some, but it's better than hoodies from Asda/primark as previously Smile

Thanks all. He's not the sporty type, so it's more likely to be the other places mentioned. Really helpful, thanks!

Don't worry! At secondary you will get kids in brands and others in head to toe Asda. Don't get sucked into labels too young unless you have deep pockets!

theoriginalpineappletart · 14/01/2019 07:36

DS is 11 and loves H&M. I also buy bits for him from M&M Direct.

BikeRunSki · 14/01/2019 07:41

H&M, Gap seem to work for DS(10). He’s going to Middle School in September, I am quite conscious that he’ll start having more teenage influences.

InternetRandomer · 14/01/2019 08:48

Also be careful with brands. Some of the brands mentioned in this thread are 100% “dad” brands around here and youngsters wouldn’t be seen dead in them so you don’t want to leave him open to micky taking.

InternetRandomer · 14/01/2019 08:49

Sorry by that I mean what’s cool for the kids varies greatly by area so what’s cool in my town may be social death in yours Grin

My 10 year old likes H&M skinny black jeans or slim fit joggers and Nike/Adidas/Sonetti/Hype tops. We sometimes find tops in H&M that he likes, as long as there's no pictures on them!!
