I've been looking at the small transport and the zipper transport. I slightly prefer the style of the small one, but the zip closing of the zipper is a definite plus. But, since I have to order online, does anyone have any experience of the bags or buying from them?

I've got the Madewell Transport tote. I've had it four years and given it a bit of a battering. I got mine from Shopbop in the sale.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 12/01/2019 08:57

Thanks, that's good to know. The quality sounds pretty good if yours is still holding up after 4 years' of use.

I’ve never heard of this brand before-the bags look lovely and very tempting

Offredismysister · 12/01/2019 09:37

I noticed John Lewis have started selling Madewell & had the bigger bag you linked on my wish list. It’s been out of stock forever, which I think speaks volumes.

I also ordered some T-shirt’s & a cardigan recently & the quality is good.

Oh, good quality tshirts are always tempting. I must look at those too!

I'm pretty sure I first saw Madewell suggested on here.

I have the Madewell large transport with zip on top. from John Lewis. Think it's out of stock right now

I needed the zip for work/commuting. If you don't need the bigger size (e.g. for a laptop) then you might not need the zip as much and the medium one is lovely and fits more snugly under the armpit so zip not as essential?

FYI I think there is a very similar zip top Transport with an additional detachable shoulder strap, so make sure you are looking at the right one.

I looked everyone for cheaper deals on it but couldn't' find so paid full price at JL (£180??!!) Very happy with it so far but has only been 6 months

Betty777 · 12/01/2019 11:23

ah sorry, now i've seen your links i realise you're looking at smaller ones anyway, not the traditional transport tote.
the medium one is the one I meant in JL - comes in a lovely burgundy too

Thanks Betty, good to hear how much you like yours. I have a couple of work bags that fit my laptop so I'm looking for a smaller, weekend bag that has a crossbody strap.

I think I'm going to go for the small one and see just how open it is when it arrives. There's a really good expensive shoe/leather repair place locally that might be able to fit a zip or magnet closures if I think I need it.
