All Saints Leather Jacket- sizing!

So I've been wanting a black leather biker style jacket for years (well I have turned 40 so it must be my mid life crisis that's finally started Grin so I'm trying to find a preloved All Saints leather jacket- I esp love the Cargo style. But I'm wondering are they true to size?? I'm a size 8 but if I was to put a jumper under it should I go for a 10??

Any help appreciated. Am nervous - even with 2nd hand, it's a lot of money for something that might not fit properly!

I am just about to turn 40 and bought my Cargo in the sale just before Xmas.

I went to a store and tries lots. the sales assistant said to size down because they can stretch. I usually wear a size 14 and bought a size 12 which is tight when I do it up.

Can you order a couple and send one back??

Good luck finding a pre-loved one too, I tried for ages but was tricky and I think quite risky for fakes and one that's in good nick. I was overjoyed when the 30% sale happened. Also beware of the fact they do a man's cargo. I very nearly ended up spending £100 on a second hand man's one Confused

It is a lovely jacket though!!

Go small. I've the cargo in a 10 and I'm a 10-12, but was 12-14 when I got it. The sales assistant actually tried to get me in an 8. I would go in and try them on if you can, the sales assistants are really helpful.

Thanks for the advice! I thought the sales would be after Xmas but nothing's in the sale now Sad Yeah I didn't think of fakes etc.

Maybe I will try one one and wait for the next sale. I have no idea where my nearest All Saints shop is though I'm going into London in March so could try some on then.

They're just so expensive new. Was thinking my mum could perhaps get it for my birthday in Feb but she wouldn't spend more than around £100/£120 max.

I am nervous about buying off ebay or 2nd hand as I have no way of knowing if it'll fit well and if it's the real deal or not.

Someone is selling one on Gumtree -it's the Dalby, never worn for £160 (RRP £298) size 8, she sent me photos of it, still has the tag and tissue paper coverings on the zips

I don't know.... it's a nice one but should I hold out for the Cargo which could be the ultimate perfect biker??….

here's a link to the ad. I asked for photos via text as she just put a website photo up. So I know she actually has the jacket and it looks in new condition. And I might be able to get her down a fair bit in price.....www.gumtree.com/p/womens-coats-jackets/all-saints-dalby-leather-biker-jacket-for-sale-brand-new-size-8-uk/1325086140

but also...I'm 41, is the Dalby a bit softer than the Cargo? Cargo is definitely more edgy/biker chic. But I'm not very edgy lol! (although trying to be more edgy!)

RNBrie yeah I've looked at some on ebay and can't believe that some people are bidding on some really knackered jackets! I mean I know its good for them to have the worn look but some look VERY worn and are going for a lot of money!

I'd rather buy new and wear it out myself...but the cost Confused

Op, have you tried an all saints outlet store? They normally have them for about a third off? Also
Sample sales? I got my oxblood red all saints leather in a sample sale in spitafields market for £150.00

Racheyg · 11/01/2019 22:01

I also agree size down. But if your buying pre owned be careful as they may have already stretched

Racheyg Thanks for the tip! I'll keep an eye out for sample sales. Yours sounds gorgeous. I love that colour- oxblood, although since this will be my first, I think I should go for black. Then I'll get another colour next time Wink

I recently bought one in an outlet store. In Ashford, Kent. It was £120 absolute bargain!

RNBrie · 12/01/2019 14:13

The cargo is distressed, so it's less shiny and black than the other ones. I found that easier to pull off in my 40s! I definitely don't feel edgy!!!

But distressed might also mean they fair better in the 2nd hand market. I'm really not sure.

I saved up for mien and I'm really glad I waited. I really do recommend trying on the different styles before committing so waiting till March is a good idea!

hammeringinmyhead · 12/01/2019 18:22

I have a Cargo in a 12 that I got on eBay for £120. They're never in the sale as such but they do 20% off when business is slow.

pippety · 12/01/2019 23:48

Definitely size down! I’m an 8 but got a 6 about three months ago and it’s already stretched a bit with moderate wear. Mine’s a cargo as I wanted a more matte finish and muted hardware. The shape is OK but it’s a bit boxier than I’d like ideally and flares out at the back a bit too much. Also the leather is lovely but it scuffs incredibly easily. Not quite sure why I kept it when I think about it - I think I just liked the idea of a biker jacket more than the garment itself!

sunshine05 · 17/01/2019 20:03

RNBrie thanks for the tip. I ordered the LaRedoute one but the sleeves are too long Sad. the Cargo one is lovely but so expensive Sad

But I do like the sound of a more matt/distressed finish, sounds more subtle than a more shiny one.

pippety yes I think I need a 6 too. I bought an 8 in the LaRedoute one and the shoulders are a bit too wide. (as well as the long sleeves)
