Do they exist? I desperately need some layers and movement/body in my hair, but I don't want to look like Rachel....

Aaah, I loved a (short) Rachel - suited me better than any other hair cut but my hair won't do it any more Sad

SagelyNodding · 11/01/2019 16:58

I will join you in your quest! Mine is just below my shoulders and all one length apart from a tiny bit of feathering around my face and I hate it! Flat and boring Sad

Gotstuckwiththisname · 11/01/2019 17:07

Following as my hair needs layers really but can't find anything that isn't horribly dated!

TinTinBanana · 11/01/2019 17:23

I have had this problem for a while. Just can't seem to find the right layered style at the moment. Most recent cut is a layered bob which is slightly inverted. It is a definite improvement on the previous layered style which looked a really strange shape

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 11/01/2019 18:23

My hair is much like this but past shoulder length, however, this is a shorter version. It is long layers though. My style is very bohemian, however, I think almost any woman can wear it. Good luck! Smile

It's the 5th one down, although the 3rd choice is pretty too.

I had this when growing out a short back and sides. I like it 😐. Mine’s now below shoulder length and one length. Love that too.

Do the mumsnet haircut Smile

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 11/01/2019 21:48

Don't do the MN haircut. It only works on thick hair. Did it in my fine, flat hair and needed to get a proper hairdresser to fix it.

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 11/01/2019 22:47

What's the MN haircut exactly?

Bloominglovely · 12/01/2019 00:26

The hairstyles in the link above are lovely but......

I brought something similar to my hairdresser and asked her to cut my hair like that. She said those styles (similar styles) were not in any way a result of the haircuts of the models. They were all just styled and if I had a free hour every morning, I could style my hair like that.

Maybe that is just my type of hair (thick) but thought I would throw that out there.

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 12/01/2019 00:37

Oh! You mean the link, I shared? If so, it doesn't take too long for my hair to look like that, but maybe, that's 'cause I've got really wavy/curly hair and I had long layers put in.?? Or....do you mean the photo above my link?

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 12/01/2019 00:39

Oh! And, lots of product of course! Devalcurl foam and finishing spray! Smile

Bloominglovely · 12/01/2019 00:41

I meant the link? Can you give really detailed step by step instructions details on how you create these styles. I've tried and have failed miserably.

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 12/01/2019 00:46

Sure! But it only works if you have curly or very wavy hair. Look at my post history under Beauty & Style and I give step by step instructions on how to achieve a really beachy look! It takes about 25 minutes. Smile Good luck!

Bloominglovely · 12/01/2019 01:04

Thank you.

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 12/01/2019 01:07

Anytime! Good luck! Grin

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 12/01/2019 08:01

MN haircut is a forward facing ponytail, which you then add another elastic to, where you want to cut and you basically just chop it off and it's meant to give you layers. Worked beautifully on my sister, with her thick, slightly wavy hair. Was awful on my fine, flat hair!

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 14/01/2019 14:53

That sounds really risky, Why not just go to a stylist or someone in beauty school? Sometimes, they do it for free there.
