Electric toothbrush

Morning all!
Can anyone recommend an electric toothbrush please? Asked the dentist which one to buy but she wouldn't recommend any, I presume because she’s not allowed.

I have an Oral b genius electric toothbrush 😃 it's very good! It does all sorts of cool things, tells you when you are brushing too hard, 4 different cleaning settings and different brush heads, it syncs up with your smart phone and can tell exactly where you have brushed and where you have missed.

Thank you! What’s the difference between say £40 brush to a £140 brush? I can obviously see things like the smart phone app but when it comes down to the actual brushing, what’s the advantages of a brush that’s a lot more expensive?

I have a fairywill one one from amazon. It was about £15. I’ve had it a year and it’s been great. Good reviews online too.

Oral-B I’ve had variations over the last 15years.. I just buy whatever is on offer when they finally need replacing (only a couple of times) around the £30 mark...

I'm a dentist and I always recommend oral B and it's what I use.

I think the one with the app is a massive gimmick- the important bit is the 2 minute timer and it's worth the extra to get one that buzzes every 30 second so you know when to move to the next quadrant of your mouth.

I would go for whatever is the best offer on Amazon etc

I prefer the Philips sonicare; I have Oral B too. The Philips is less noisy and harsh and the charge lasts longer on mine. I think in tests done for a tv programme it was actually Superdrugs own brand that came out best at cleaning.
They all do a decent job, and i think it boils down to your own technique and preferences as to what works best for you.
As for all the extras you can buy, they will all clean well at the same basic level, the only useful things imo are the timers that let you know how long to spend on each area of your mouth and the pressure sensor that lets you know if you're pressing too hard. (but you soon get a feel for that anyway.)
You can pay extra for all the bells and whistles, but a basic one will still do the job.

I also have the Fairywill one after seeing it recommended on here. It's great and the charge lasts forever.

I am also happy with Oral B but I really want a Philips sonicare (the rose gold one🙄) when this one dies. I change the head once at every 2, maximum 3 months, and I charge it perhaps once at 1.5 weeks? Great battery life, I brush twice a day x 4 min each time (this was the best tip I got from a dentist ever!)

An electric toothbrush makes an unbelievable difference!

Anything Oral B pro 2/2000 upwards is perfect.

All models of the pro 2 upwards have exactly the same motor so the more expensive you're only really paying for the fancy gadets it comes with.

I have the genius 9000 and it's fantastic, but I only paid the price tag because it was rose gold.. I ended up getting the voilet one anyway!

Phillips sonicare is a rubbish excuse of an electric toothbrush. The whole point orbit because electric is yoibshouodnt have to 'scrub' like you would with a manual toothbrush.
The Oral B head pulses and osculates so you only need to holding on every tooth for a few seconds then move on, it does the cleaning for you.
The Phillips sonicare only vibrates and is much too gentle, and you still need to Use the movement of a manual brush.

Tesco have lots of electric toothbrushes half price at the minute. I bought an oral B one today

Right then, I’m thinking of going for an oral b thanks to the advice on here What’s with the different numbers of them though please, is it how powerful they are?

Which oral b did you choose @Pinkyyy? Depending on how much they are in boots I may use my points to treat myself

I've got the Oral b that buzzes every 30 seconds. It's great for me and I haven't had any problems with the power.

I'm.not sure what model mine is. I always just buy the toothbrush that's got the biggest discount.

I like the idea of one that buzzes so I know when to move on to the next part.
I didn’t realise it’s best to brush for four minutes, I need to up my game!!

Oral B - I have one and got partner one for Christmas- £20 in Lidl

If you want cheaper but effective get the oral B 2000 - might be nicer as an Oral B 2 they just changed the name but it's the same brush.

Looking at the oral b 2000 and there’s the N, S and W. Is it just the colour that’s different?

I've got an oral-b which cost about £25 off Amazon. It's not an all singing all dancing one but it has a timer and pulses when you need to move onto the next quarter of your mouth. Also has a light which warns you if you are brushing too hard. Tbh I don't feel like I need anything else from my toothbrush 🤣

Some of the Oral B's are offer at Superdrug too. I just got one reduced from £50 to £22 (online).

Oh, and it came with a free toothpaste which is £3.99 in the shop!

My husband has the oral b genius 9000 I think I have the philips sonicare. Philips battery lasts much longer 3 weeks between charges and is better than oral b, my husband says so and I agree. The difference 8s the head, oral b has round head which works better for my husband. I love my philips is very powerful and does a great job at cleaning. Is also gorgeous to look at, I have the amethyst one. Heads replacement are more expensive though. Also I got mine on offer at £125 but when I checked now it goes well over 200. I wouldn't pay full price for it if I have to choose now.
