Colour B4 or is there something better?

My hair is currently dyed a mid-darkish brown. I'd like to lighten it or at least remove the dark brown dye. I've done this before a few years ago using Colour B4 & although it's gone okay (always results in a warm light copper brown, which isn't too bad, I'm naturally auburn anyway) it's the faff on that puts me off, especially the finishing stage, if I don't rinse for at least 20 mins, I find it tends to re-oxidise & goes dark again after 2 days. Are there any other brands that work quite well or do they all require as much faff?!

It always damaged my hair, really dried it out. Could you have a few highlights put through it instead?

I’ve used it a few times to strip dye out of my hair, I use the extra version. Stinks mind you but normally pop a light brown over it and that helps with the smell. Hair has never darkened again and pleased with my lighter brown finish as I’m too fair skinned to be really dark, I looked Ill.

Bleach bath? It's less harsh than a straight bleaching but mixing it with shampoo and applying on wet hair, perfect for only wanting to go a couple of shades lighter. There's some good tutorials online.

I've had highlights done at hairdressers before, each time it's resulted in unpleasant yellowy-toned stripes & ive paid dearly for the privilege & been told it's the 'lightest' or rather the best tone I'd get on my dyed hair!

I did think of a bleach bath - funnily enough have had one of those done at a local hairdressers quite a few years ago (gosh sounds like I mess about with my hair a lot!) but I was thinking that's got to be more damaging than colour b4? And obviously more expensive - I wouldn't mess about with bleach at home, I'm not that brave! Also there's a strong chance a colour will be required to go on top so added £££.

Looks like it'll have to be Colour B4 then, only thing is I use to pop on Clairols 8 wash light ash brown afterwards just to tone it, in case it went clown orange, but it looks like it's been discontinued, so I'm buggered now for a back up & don't know of any other one bottle wash wash out ashy 'dyes'. Knowing my luck it will go clown orange this time.
