Male.

Will be attending some important meetings soon, cannot do up a shirt and tie. I need something smart and am in early 40s, wheelchair bound. Haven't needed anything smart for an age so totally lost! I knows MN is a weird place to post this but hey ho!

Hmm, it might be worth asking in the style and beauty section, some posters there are amazing!

Could you do a black roll neck under a jacket? Slightly dated maybe but if you go for a quality fabric should look good, and comfortable?

explodingkitten · 09/01/2019 06:09

My DH wears turtlenecks with a blazer. He chose some beautiful fabrics to go together and looks really nice. Can you wear a blazer?

SimplySteve · 09/01/2019 06:29

Oops, have requested move, thanks.

Love the idea, @Sexnotgender , and the shirt @Keeptrudging thanks :)

No chance on a blazer :(

Wide range of clip-on ties? meechs.co.uk/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIoeLBr4ng3wIVxbDtCh1Qqw4xEAAYASAAEgKsKvD_BwE

If a blazer wouldn’t work could you wear a really nice merino or cashmere fine knit jumper (I am thinking that expensive fabrics look smarter, if that makes sense)?

CMOTDibbler · 09/01/2019 17:59

If you can get your arms in a shirt, I'd get a really nice shirt and ask an alterations person to alter it to sew the buttons on top of the buttonholes and then put velcro behind then or poppers if you have the strength to do those. My alterations lady does this a lot for people

What do you normally wear, what clothes can you manage?

umpteennamechanges · 09/01/2019 18:06

Something like this with chinos or dark grey/black/navy trousers?

They don't have to be from M&S, other retailers are available Grin

babysharkah · 09/01/2019 18:16

Nice fine nit turtle neck - could you manage that or would the neck be too tight to deal with?

SimplySteve · 09/01/2019 22:53
