Revamping a velvet jacket

Hi, my grandmother had a black velvet vintage jacket that I adore but it's looking worn. The velvet on the collar has worn away on the fold against my neck and the cuffs are starting to wear. The lining is ripped and the sleeves are a little shorter than ideal. However, the faults are hidden when wearing and it still looks great. I wore it today with skinny jeans, fly boots and a sparkly black scarf and felt a million dollars compared to my normal school run frump Blush

Could it be altered to revamp it? A new collar perhaps (it's a separate section so could be replaced I think) and something added to the sleeve cuffs-but what? Only needs an inch or so. I know I could have it re-lined and want to choose a bright and funky lining and will add new buttons to give it a new lease of life.

Any ideas?
