Work shoes

Hello, I'm looking for some black 'work shoes', I work for a law firm. Smart flats or a very small heel. I want them to be synthetic materials though as I'm vegetarian. I went to Clarks today and they only had about 3 pairs that vaguely fit that description that were synthetic materials and I didn't think any of them were smart enough really.

Any suggestions? Flexible with budget, was thinking if there were any sales I could take advantage of though maybe. I'm a size 5.5 so in places that don't do half-sizes, usually a 6 but sometimes a 5 depending on the shoe. I also have fairly wide feet, not wide enough to need wider width fittings on my shoes but can't really do very pointy shoes or whatever.

Dune have loads of synthetic shoes. Although still charge leather prices.

I would just go and try some on in person OP.

I too don't buy leather and I've bought work shoes in the past from places like Primark, River Island, Next and Topshop. Most shoes in high street shops don't seem to be leather nowadays. Tesco and Asda might also have some nice ones.

One of the links that someone's posted are shoes that cost £40 and don't look much different to ones that you can buy in Asda for £10. It's the look of the draw how long they last for and how comfortable they are though.

Thanks all. I really like the Dune ones but I know what people mean about 'leather prices', that really puts me off - which is funny as before I was vegetarian I would happily pay that much for leather, but I feel like I'm being ripped-off if it's synthetic, iyswim! DressingGown I would prefer to do that but I don't think I will get a chance before the sales end (or ever lol), 6 mo DD and there is no way she would sit nicely in her pushchair for me to try shoes on, and I'm going to be doing the vast majority of her care even on weekends for the next month or so as DH has lots of exams and assignments, sigh.

I got a lovely pair of patent style flats in an M&S outlet for only £20. they are sort of loafer type (maybe leaning on brogues) I will try and find a link

Marks and Spencer do some really quite nice ones, for not too much at all. I buy leather generally so I haven’t looked at non-leather in a while, but some time before Christmas there were quite a few good pleather options available. Usually they’re around £30 - £40 as an estimate but if you look now you could probably pick up some excellent bargains in their sale - I usually pick up leather/suede options for £20 ish in the further reductions and non-leather is cheaper still.
