helix or lobe?

Have decided to take the plunge and have some more piercings in my ears. At the moment I have one standard one in each lobe. I just can't make up my mind what to go for. Sometimes I think I'd like 3 & 2 in lobes, then I want 4&3, and then I'd love one in a helix, but I seem to read more about problems caused by that than it being ok?

Is anybody happy with their helix piercing?

(in case it helps, I'm late 40s, and am not looking to be classic or predictable, but don't want to be too 'out there' either, somewhere in the middle!)

Thank you!

I'm also late 40s and have had my tragus and daith pierced last year in one ear- really love how they look.

I've got 3 in my lower lobe, 2 in my helix and 1 forward facing helix but my tragus is my favourite!

Forward helix took longest to heal though.

I have a daith piercing for migraines works pretty well

I love how they all look - I had to google to check what they all are! I didn't mention that I'm v squeamish! I think I can only handle 1 'non lobe' piercing! I've heard that daith piercings are good for migraines, but luckily I don't suffer from them.

I have 3 lobe piercings on 1 side & 2 on the other, love them. I’ve been debating about a helix piercing for a year. Scared it will hurt & take ages to heal & that i might go off it.

redeyes1 · 07/01/2019 22:38

how much does it hurt? and what sort of hurt? and what does it actually mean that it takes ages to heal - I know I should get it in the side I don't hold the telephone to, or sleep on but what is the pain factor out of 10? is it like stomach cramps on a bad period, or is it like a migraine? or is it like a paper cut.... ?

I have had tons of piercings,
I currently have 2 on each of the lobes, 1 daith, 1 tragus, 2 helix
Honestly they don’t hurt much at all I find it worse at night trying to sleep but if you don’t sleep on that side it shouldn’t be a problem at all

I have a lot of piercings in my ears including helix, tragus, daith, 3 lobes on each ear and I also have my nipples pierced. I absolutely love my helix piercing, it's so simple but adds a different and stylish look to your ear which I feel changes my appearance altogether :) I love piercings and my helix, but you have to think about the healing pain much more than the pain of it getting pierced. I catch my helix on everything (towels, long nails, hair, doors..everything!!) and my boyfriend always catches it when he grabs me or goes to hug me etc. That's my only problem with my helix, it didn't hurt much at all to get pierced but I catch it on anything possible, however I have slowly got use to that! My other lobe piercings really didn't hurt to get pierced and didn't hurt to heal either, apart from catching them on anything for the first few days.

Bit long but hope that helps!

Thank you CheeeseLady. I'm thinking of inventing some sort of 'ear shield' so that I won't catch it on anything! Does such a thing exist? Grin

If you find such a thing then please let me know! @redeyes1 Grin

I've only a lobe in each ear but a forward helix, front helix, 2 conches and a kind of side helix.
I can cover my piercings with my hair if I'm going anywhere conservative. I love them and all done after a turned 45!
