Hi does anyone have photos of their asymmetrical bob haircut? Considering this after always having long hair x

Seriously? You need it explained to you that MIL jokes are sexist and ageist? Really? Are you a Jim Davidson fan, by any chance? Do you realise it is now 2019?

fartwhenyoustandup · 06/01/2019 19:07

Yes please. I'm at a total loss as to understand what's sexist or misogynistic about that meme.

Blondielongie · 06/01/2019 19:10

rusty I read boob!

TheNavigator · 06/01/2019 19:12

OK, taking you are face value (although still a bit uneasy as you claim to be totally unaware that MIL jokes are problematic....) the issue is that the haircut is associated with middle aged women who are called Susan and complain a lot, probably because they are menopausal. The inference is that women who are no longer focusing energy on being sexually desirable should shut up and go away. Our society effectively erases middle aged women and sadly this is not a laughing matter.

I am sorry to harsh the buzz of the lovely S&B Board, but I do enjoy how gentle this section of the forum is and would hate to see it lost to unthinking misogyny, when it is usually supportive of women of all ages and life stages Smile

Great meme.

Beerflavourednipples · 06/01/2019 19:16

Lol, I came on here to say you better be careful that you don't end up with the 'can I speak to the manager' haircut but I have been beaten to it! 😂

user1468942365 · 06/01/2019 19:17

Wow!!

Beerflavourednipples · 06/01/2019 19:18

Not all women who sport the 'speak to the manager' haircut are menopausal by the way.....

Beerflavourednipples · 06/01/2019 19:21

It's more about the inverted bob and stripy highlights than the age of the woman.

Brittanyspears · 06/01/2019 19:24

I was just about to say “just google can i speak to the manager” glad i didn’t Grin

ShirleyPhallus · 06/01/2019 19:25

Lol at that meme.

ShirleyPhallus · 06/01/2019 19:34

FWIW, I think an awful lot of posts on S&B are from us middle aged women trying to avoid looking frumpy. Which happens when you pick a style and then stick with it for 20 years.

A la the late 90s bob in the meme above.

InfiniteSheldon · 06/01/2019 19:34

Ignoring all else.... I've had long hair for about 15 years and just got sick of it ask my hairdresser to cut it off she kept saying no. So I went to a new hairdresser who cut it into a lovely bob high at the back is that what inverted means?. But really and truly I was hankering after a pixie cut so I next went for an asymmetric bob really short on one side I loved it my friends had a mixed reaction. My DC didn't like it, my dh hated it, really really hated it It's taken me 6 months to grown out requiring constant washing and styling I really want my inverted bob back but at least I know I definitely don't want a pixie cut because it was way too short!

Jellybean100 · 06/01/2019 19:38

It’s a really really outdated style, I’m not sure you’ll find many people showing you pictures OP. What about a long choppy bob? I just googled to make sure that’s what I was on about and it is lol, they’re popular at the moment and outgrow quickly if you don’t like it.

ReturnofSaturn · 06/01/2019 19:50

I've always had long hair and tbh it's always been a pain in my arse. I have fine hair that tangles really easily.

I end up just always scraping it back into a ponytail and on the rare occasions I do dare to venture out wearing it down, I end up having to spend an age sat untangling it when I get home.

OP I’m sorry I contributed to the detailing of your post! Have you considered a lob? Slightly more up to date version of what you’re after and will help with the tangles and general pain in the arseness of long hair. Suits fine hair well too!

I’m also sorry for offending you Susan Navigator. Would you like to speak to my manager?

ihadasleepintoday · 07/01/2019 11:39

I think an inverted bob is much worse. I'd go for a longish bob op. A blunt cut if your hair is fine, just above your shoulders.
