Mine is a cross between a witch in Harry Potter and an early Noughties rock chick (depending on my mood.) It's either long bell sleeved tops, long swishy skirts and pointy toed ankle boots, or band t-shirts, knee length skirts, stripy socks and combat boots. A strange combination! In the summer I sometimes dress in an almost regency style, as I have some summer dresses that fit that look. Smile

Polished and feminine. That's what I'm aiming for anyway, the reality might be a bit different GrinWink

hmmwhatatodo · 06/01/2019 01:44

Lacklustre despite my best efforts.

Richlyfruited · 06/01/2019 07:53

Wow OP that sounds like an amazing look!

My style is extremely boring, preppy - jeans and basics but polished. I love my make up and beauty products far more than my clothes Grin

MissElaineNeus · 06/01/2019 07:55

I was to be androgynous and edgy (with a bit of country lady when I'm not in town) but end up scruffy in comfy jeans, jumpers and trainers.

TipseyTorvey · 06/01/2019 08:16

That's an interesting question! I have two looks. For work I aim for sleek, minimal and stylish but as I'm short and a bit wider than I'd like it probably comes accross as just a bit plain - lots of pencil dresses or tailored jackets and slimline trousers. For out of work I aim for funky forty something and basically buy everything from hush and mint velvet. Lots of skinny jeans and drapey jumpers with funky boots. I'm totally addicted to make up and rarely leave the house without it unless I'm running. I aim to be a crazy purple wearing pensioner in funky trainers and never succumb to brown lace ups with nylon trousers but we'll see :).

mycatplotsdeath · 06/01/2019 09:03

Bag lady chic with really bad hair!
Always look a bloody mess

chatwoo · 06/01/2019 09:14

@TipseyTorvey definitely with you on becoming trendy sneaker wearing old lady Grin

DavetheCat2001 · 06/01/2019 09:26

Ex-goth/indie/alternative kid.. nose ring/ few tattoos.

Try and dress more my age sometimes, but always gravitate back to a more eclectic style.

Prefer comfort.

fatpatsthong · 06/01/2019 09:28

Hmmmm

Work - I try to be pared down smart casual with a quirky twist (eg wear a lot of colour, a funky accessory or two). In reality look like grumpy 40 something mum failing to be cool.

At home I aim for slightly funky but practical hush type look. In practise whatamess the Afghan hound but shorter and fatter.

I have a few sensory issues which mean I put comfort over style and miss the boat when I try to combine.

Isth · 06/01/2019 09:31

Hmm, country something. All my shoes are boots of some kind, I wear an awful lot of joules, fat face, jack wills, Barbour, crew clothing etc. I’d argue I go for the less ‘frumpy’, for want of a better word, elements of these brands tho.

Sitranced · 06/01/2019 09:32

At work - London stylish chic - plain cashmere jumpers, tweed shorts, wide leg trousers, pendants necklaces. Brogues
At home - Bronx ghetto pixie. Baggy jeans or paisley low crotch harems, hoodies, big hoops and bangles, trainers or tan workboots, French braids. A bit like lily Allen or Gwen stefani i wish

MawkishTwaddle · 06/01/2019 09:35

Boho.

Lots of midi dresses with ankle or long boots, dungarees, harem pants round here.

Pierced nose and a few tattoos.

Took me a while to get back to my true style after a few years in the wilderness, but I’m comfy and happy now.

Pinkvici22 · 06/01/2019 09:37

I’d like to hope:
Work - classic, classy and polished
Home - classic, simple, with a slight edge (funky shoes/bags)

Shockers · 06/01/2019 09:38

Fabrics must be soft and natural; shoes and boots must be comfortable.

That’s about it.

SapphireSeptember · 06/01/2019 10:31

Richly Aww, thank you! Smile

I have to wear a uniform at work, but add a bit of interest with my make up.

I sometimes wonder if I should dress more like a grown-up, think about it for a few minutes, then discard the idea. Grin I'm glad I can finally dress the way I want now I can afford it.

Miane · 06/01/2019 10:41

I aim for quiet elegance. I don’t like froth and frills (on me). I don’t go for trends. I like classic, very well fitting things I can wear in lots of different combinations over and over again.

I only buy things I really, really love.

I sometimes wonder if I should dress more like a grown-up

Grin. You are a grown up, so by definition your clothes are grown up clothes.

The only important thing is that they are comfortable and that they make you feel good. Your clothes sound lovely.

Floisme · 06/01/2019 11:02

I'm not sure I have an identifiable style. Well I do - at the moment I'm into androgyny - but then I get bored or realise it doesn't suit me any more so I change it. But I suppose underpinning it, I'm aiming for that elusive low key elegant but cool look with a hint of old school glamour. But the proportions of that change, so at the moment the low key cool thing dominates but at other points in my life I've been more into the glamour. But it always has to be low maintenance cos one thing that never changes is that I'm lazy.

If I could afford to buy designer all the time it would be a mix of Vivienne Westwood and Margaret Howell. Two of my biggest style crushes are Katharine Hepburn and Grace Kelly. Make of that what you will!

umpteenpinecones · 06/01/2019 11:04

Relaxed scruffy lady about the village Grin

FauxFox · 06/01/2019 11:09

My style is best described as ‘Steven Tyler meets Audrey Hepburn’ the older I get the more Steve is winning Grin

Mrskeats · 06/01/2019 11:11

Mine is called ‘I didn’t expect to get out of the car’
Or possibly ‘11pm McDonalds run’

BitOutOfPractice · 06/01/2019 11:14

I don't know what it's called though I know what it is iykwim

TheGirlWhoLived · 06/01/2019 11:19

My style is sort of preppy Instagram? Usually skinny jeans or flippy skirt and tights with a strappy top, or black/ grey t-shirt - something Zara or top shop. Usually wear a good jacket, I own a fair few that go with different things. Or in my camel thigh length coat

Always have a massive bag, too many bangles or necklaces (either or). Light make up. Shoulder lengthy wavy hair, usually clean!

For a night out it’s usually a long sleeved sometimes backless black mini dress, bare legs and the highest heels I can find! Always a jacket of some sort- southern girl, I feel the cold!

CountFosco · 06/01/2019 11:23

Fauxfix I love your description of your style!

Not sure about mine. Minimalist with a twist I guess is what I aim for. But then I buy a red tartan dress and love it. But mainly it's all about the shoes.

wiltingflower · 06/01/2019 11:32

Quite certain my overall style comes across as a mess despite best efforts. Everything I wear is functional unless dressing up in which case practical isn't required. Personal style is probably big coloured jewellery (natural shell, stones and the like, dangly earrings) and red nails (have lots of different shades of nail polish) and bold lips (have tons of lipsticks).

Work: an attempt to be smartly dressed. Always black blazers (have multiple ones in different textures/fabrics, with pockets) , always skirts (smart black patterned or plain), always a short sleeved formal top in block red/blue/orange/white. I wear smart black ankle boots or flats (plain black, patent burgundy or grey suede).

Home: whatever is freshly laundered and comfortable to wear. Usually leggings and a cotton top plus cardigan or jumper.

Daytime and not at home e.g town: jeans (black or blue), boots (black or brown (various shades), nice top and cardigan/jumper plus fleece with zipped pockets.

All with a giant bag.

TipseyTorvey · 06/01/2019 11:35

@sitranced I'm fascinated that you call your style London chic. I was in London last week and was just saying to DH, as we people watched through a restaurant window, that londoners seem to have a totally different funky style to the home counties suburban one. I used to live in London and was down with the kids but now seem to have become quite provincial. DH pointed out that if I did dress in the london style where we live I'd probably just look eccentric 😂
