Small bag for walks

Following on from the other hiking thread, what bag would you use for walking in the country side etc? I have hiking backpacks and leather handbags. I also have a Radley pocket cross body bag but it doesn't look right. I need something that can fit water in and a purse etc.

I also have some new navy down and water proof jackets after my old one died NYE hiking. What colour hat, fleece linning and gloves would you go for? Have cream insulated hat but had it for years.

For hiking I would always use a proper backpack with decent hip and chest straps.

When I see more fashion/style conscious hikers there's usually not as good kit in the name of looking pretty. E.g. backpacks with 1inch strap for the hip fastening or no hip strap / coats and jumpers that will become heavy when wet etc.

I’d go back pack every time

Just hunted for examples
E.g.
For full day walking I would get something like these day packs. There's some a bit smaller but I wouldn't go much smaller due to needing spare layers, waterproofs, food eye.

If I was going out for a morning/afternoon and sure of the conditions then something like these packs.

They're not fashionable but there's enough different colours and styles to go with most people's active clothing.

If you've got a navy coat then most accessory colours will go with it. Buff do some really nice thermal snoods that are practical and oh so lovely.
