Hello all. I had chemo for breast cancer earlier this year, so lost all my hair. It's now coming back and is probably about an inch long all over. When it first started to grow, I could literally wash and go, but it's just long enough now that I could potentially style it a little. What can I use that will give it a casually tousled look and not leave me looking like a hedgehog? I've had enough of everything about my appearance being something that's happened to me and want to take back a bit of control!

Anyone?

Sea salt spray might be good or L'Oréal super dust - it's a powder not sure how it works! Also one hair dresser used the dry shampoo stuff on my short hair to style it. Might be worth a try! Why don't you go into a good hairdresser and ask for some styling advice? They are often happy to give it for free.

I like this surf paste
My hairdresser always recommends spray wax though, which is probably easier to use if you are not used to it.
The main thing is to just use a tiny bit and rub it through your fingers before you apply it.

I would try a mouse for styling and body and I use Redken spray wax 10 after drying. Get it from somewhere like allbeauty.com where it’s half the price my hairdresser charges.

With best wishes for a healthy future.

I like VO5's 'stick it up gum' (purple pot). Stops the hedgehog look but still feels nice and soft.

Have fun being able to style your hair again Smile

I will, thank you.

I used a dot of wax. The pink VO5 one.

Dax Wax. The blue tin is soft, almost liquid and it gives a very very soft hold... nice shine and it smells great. Red tin... stickier and gives stronger hold. I prefer the blue. I have had a very short crop for 30 years, always go back to Dax. It’s cheap, available in Superdrug and it is marvellous.

Wella pearl styler gel is excellent.

Bed head manipulator works well to give some texture and oomph to my short fine hair. Been using it for years.
